in places where it rarely gets that hot, but trust me when I say that i would welcome one whole week of over 100 degrees. Hottest ever recorded temperatures ever on the planet was on September 13, 1922, in El Azizia (also known as Al 'Aziziyah), Libya, when the mercury hit 136 degrees Fahrenheit. El Azizia is near the Sahara desert, so it's no wonder the place gets so hot.
California's Death Valley had the second-highest temperature. This desert area hit 134 degrees Fahrenheit in 1913. However here in Pasadena, CA the highest temp was 120. In 1986 we had almost two months of temps 117 degrees and above. Flat roofs and no a/c makes a home HOT! |
All I can find is the highest recorded temperature in Oregon was Pendleton, Oregon, 119 degrees on 08/10/1898! Must note that Pendleton is in Eastern Oregon which is predominately high plains desert.

It all depends on which weather forecaster your listening to I get 4 channels and 4 different Hi Temp records - cbs said 103 on Thurs was our all time high-nbc said 101-abc says 102 and fox said106 ???? But on 8-18-2010 it was 111 w/o the heat index I remember the date because it was the 4th anniv. of my transplant
