I love the HGTV shows "House Hunters" and "House Hunters International." Has anybody here been on either show ... or do you know anybody that has been?
|
I haven't but once a house down the road from our family cottage was on it. I had looked at it with my brother - just peeking through the windows etc. when it went on the market. (Don't worry, it was empty). Then I was so surprised when about 3 months later, it was on the show. It wasn't the one that was picked at the end, though.
I love those shows! |
my cousin's condo in boston was on it, but it died not get chosen by the buyer.

Haven't been on but love watching both shows. they are alot of fun! =)
|
That is about the only TV I have on during the day...love catching the last few minutes when I remember. Love watching international at night.
|
I like the shows. I haven't seen but a few homes I'd love to live in though. The international House Hunter show is very interesting. I was really surprised at how large the homes are in Israel.

For the regular House Hunters, not positive about HHI, the "buyers" have to have a contract on their house before they are picked for the show. The other two houses, and the realtor, are chosen purely for the purposes of the show. That is why it is so easy, much of the time, to guess which one they bought - it is usually the house/condo that is empty.

I don't know anyone or properties that have been on either show, but I love them both. I like to see how people decorate and what ideas they have for small spaces. And it's a bonus when they show a sewing room!

Watching a "Hunters" marathon right now!
|
I love watching them too, but always laugh when they make the same comment:"Lots of windows, lots of light."! It always make me want to say, "What did you expect? No windows?" LOL!
|
there was a quilter on there the other day, but it wasn't me.
I get tickled- no one looks under the sink, checks the water pressure, etc. |
I like the shows, but it seems to me that the people are told ahead of times to say certain words, ex(spacious).
Also, I hate it when the couple is going through the house and complaing that the coloring on the walls aren't the right color. The poor realtor has to say "Those are easy fixes." Does the couple expect to just move in? I do like the shows but I get tired of them also. |
I watch them! I especially like HH Intnl. Just reinforces how LUCKY we are with our homes!!! Some of them blow me away -- tiny, no closets, MAYBE 1 bathroom! And the kitchens!! ARRRRGH
And SueDor -- YES, young people DO expect to just move in to a completely finished home!!!! I've NEVER in 40+ years found a home that I didn't want to change in some way! What bugs me are the young ones with tiny children that refuse homes because the cupboards are white or it's not big enough (3500 sf). My folks raised us 2 kids in a 1100 sf home, 1 bath. We were HAPPY! |
The house down the street from us in Texas was on House Hunters. It was the chosen house, too!

It makes you wonder if they ever heard of "paint"! We've lived in our condo for 9 yrs with white walls and my son's getting all twisted up because I want to paint the walls a different color! He thought another shade of white would be great. I asked him if a colored paint would be any harder or easier than another coat of white? He didn't have an answer (snicker, snicker)!
