How can I wipe this off leather?
My husband's leather coat has what looks like mildew on the surface. That is safe to use to clean this (besides water)? On something less fragile I would use white vinegar, but I would love some insight from someone else who's needed to do this.

Is it mildew? or might it be the leather wearing off? If the coat is black use a permanent black marker somewhere on the wrong side of the hem to see how it adheres.

I haven't had this issue, but apparently others have. |

leather will mildew. on my horse tack I use a good saddle soap to clean the mildew and dirt. allow it to dry naturally (no heat). the saddle soap put oils back into the leather. You can also buy leather treatment (after you clean it) at a farm supply or tack shop.

I have leather furniture. No mold issues but I just use household furniture spray to 'condition' and clean the furniture. Works as well if not better, in my opinion, than specific leather cleaners/conditioners.
