Most people I know met online. Then they meet, or re-meet if it's someone from their past, their affairs on facebook. Fidelity is rare in my community.

I agree that the grocery store is a bit of a meat market. I thought I avoided that by living in the gay part of town but no. Women probably flirt more than straight guys. At least women are nicer and give less of the predator on prey vibe.

I met my DH at a piano bar in CA. He was always so quiet and alone, and I was there with a group of friends. I went over to him and told him I'd pay him a nickle if he'd dance with me. LOL Later I found out that he just came in there to relax after he got off working as a bartender on base. He still swears I never paid him the nickle, but I am sure I did. We married in 1972. I tell him he has just until 2012 for our trial marriage, then after that I'm keeping him.

I was divorced when my best friend of over 25 years died of cancer. A year later her husband and I went out on a date, which was very awkward, and a year later we married. I had known the entire family, taught their daughter to drive, was there for the kid's graduations and marriage, etc... I think she would be happy that I'm the one trying to fill the huge void she left in our lives.

My husband of 38 years and I were "ordered" to meet. I was a nurse in the Air Force and he was working for a Colonel. waiting to start flight training. The col. called me in the clinic and then gave the phone to my husband and said "here she is". We made a date to meet at the officer's club after work a few days later; we both figured we'd each have our own car, we could tell the colonel we met and that would be that!
