One of my DGD's recently moved to Bakersfield CA and this is the first year she won't be with family for Christmas. I told her I would send her some of her favorite cookies, biscotti and Snickerdooles, but am wondering how to get them there without them breaking. Anyone have some advice? I have to mail them ASAP before DH and I eat them all up, LOL! May in Jersey

May, I've sent cookies to my kids with bubble wrap and they made it intact! Good luck :)
Edit- I layer the bubble wrap and wrap the cookies in baggies first. |
I used to buy the containers for xmas at WM. Fill completely, layered with wax paper.Scrunch extra wax paper in to balls for filler inside container to fill air pockets. Pack in a box well buffered with extra newspaper, shredded paper or extra grocery bags all balled up. Whatever you have to protect it from moving around inside the box. Seal and mail.

I'd probably pack them with one bite out of each one. Just kidding (probably). I think as long as you cushion them, they should travel ok.

I send a Christmas Cookie package down to Florida every year for my son's family. If you pack it so there is NO movement in it, it will be fine. I have used bubble wrap, newspaper and even batting!
He has never gotten a pkg with broken cookies! |
Popcorn works also. I pack about 4-6 cookies in a baggie, usually have several baggies, than layer those in with popcorn.

In my tummy??

I gave up trying to send cookies and candies to anyone during the holidays. The gremlins ate them before they could make it out the door!!! ROL!!!

I used to ship cookies to Guam when my BFF's daughter was stationed there...I would pack 2 cookies back to back in a snack ziploc bag. Pack the tin up tight. the old 3# coffee cans worked great. Would ring upright around a stack in the middle that was flat.
The key is to pack it really snug...no movement. Besides if they break they can still eat the crumbs... My friends daughter liked the baggies because she could share and people weren't putting their grubby hands in her cookies. ;-) |
