I
f you have wireless the Roku steams movies and tv shows to your tv. It cost about $50. The only cost after that is what you pay for Netflix, Amazon Prime, or Hulu accounts but there are free channels you can watch. We love it. Movies on demand whenever you want from Netflix for $8 month. It's simple to hook up.

Just 2 computers here., one is mine and the other is DH's.

I'm hooked up to the internet and DH uses his for his photography, he has the better color printer.
I'm more computer literate than DH but we're don't have loads of electronic equipment, leaving that to the younger folk as DH and I are in our mid 70's. Very few of my friends are on the internet for email let alone for Facebook, etc. May

One Server, one laptop, one desktop upstairs and one in the kitchen. I don't count IPODS etc., they are not computers.

ckcowl 12-09-2011 01:16 PM

1 lap top

thats it- not even a smart phone-just one smart enough to make a call

i fight that whole---being connected---with everything i've got!
so many people would be totally lost- have heart attacks if there was a serious-long term power outage!
for me- a power out just means- put on another layer---and get the hand sewing project out....or read a book---one that you actually turn paper pages :)
i really do avoid a connected life= and spend too much time on the one computer we have- as in an hour or two every day :)

NancyG 12-09-2011 11:54 PM

2 old folks here
1-desktop
1-laptop

1-mp3 player for my 70 y.o. hubby, 1-I pod for me, 1 smart phone when we travel, cell phones for 2

Our girls are amazed that we are computer literate and willing to try new things when many of their friends' parents are not, but I love the new things they are coming out with and want to at least try it.

When I started typing, I had a smith-corona typewriter, then came the selectrics and now the computer. Yes!

When I started talking on the telephone, we had rotary dial and a party line for 4 families. Now we have Skype. Gotta love all the changes!

mltquilt 12-10-2011 04:28 AM

Just my laptop and Droid phone. DH also has a laptop. May get a Kindle Fire early next year.

One desk top-over 10yrs old-thinking of replacing, but don't know with what....and one laptop in kitchen for recipes, look up stuff and be here!!!!!! I do not do any banking biz, bill paying on computer....use the old fashioned checkbook and stamps system......don't need to communicate with extended family far away......those that I am interested in are short driving distance away....anyone else gets a periodical phone call..........read books, take pics with camera don't watch much tv, most movies nowadays are junky....so I guess I am a "cave dweller".........but I do have a computerized sewing machine and a good stash of fabric and many quilt books/mags so that is my entertainment.

Aren't your sewing machines computerised?

texpat45 01-02-2012 09:41 AM

3 adults & 2 boys 9 & soon to be 5

2 desktops one set up as server
4 laptops
3 Iphones & the 9 yo has a phone he's only allowed to make calls & send/rec text messages on - no data allowed
1 Nook
2 IPads
1 Xbox Kinnect
1 PS3
1 printer/scanner/copier/fax combo
1 some other game system in the boys room

I have one semi-literate computerized sewing machine
also a DS & DSI hand held games - if those count - they are computerized!

I'm lost w/o my computer, Iphone & Ipad...I do everything by computer....don't write checks anymore, don't carry cash, wish my car was newer so I could have Bluetooth set up for my phone. That is sooo nice...both my daughters have that in their cars.

I may be old, but I love my computer gadgets...make life so much easier!

irishrose 01-02-2012 11:16 AM

Best thing since sliced bread until this year DS #1 gave me a wireless mouse and keyboard that lets me use the TV as my computer monitor. So.......one laptop, one Roku and one whatever the heck the wireless doo hickey might be.
