I have found that there are a lot of us, who has or someone in their family that has lost their job or their pay reduced. My hubby lost his and my hours has been cut back. The brigth side of this is that I can send more time learning and chatting with you guys. I turst in the Lord and He and He alone will take care of His childern.

I was laid off a year ago. no word as of yet if things will pick back up.
I feel so blessed when I read how some people are having a hard time. My husband's hours were cut, but so far only by 5 hours a week and we can work with that. When he complained I reminded him that if everyone works 5 less hours a week, that for every 7 people with 5 less hours, someone else got to keep a 35 hour a week job.
My DH just had a job change - same company, different project to supervise and with it the hourly wage stayed the same, but there is no bonus like on the other project so we are loosing nearly $500.00 a month!
My husband lost his job almost 3 years ago. I had to go to work while he stayed home with the children. I lost my job, due to company cutbacks, in May. The Lord sent me an angel, a lady who works me two days a week. It barely pays the bills but I'm still hopeful of a full time job soon. The Lord does take care of us even though we are too stubborn to see it!
I am truly sorry to hear about job losses and cut backs. My dh is working, thank the Lord but his supervisor seems to be on a rampaige writing everyone up for stupid little things like she is looking to fire a bunch of ppl. Bless you all, I hope things get better out there.

I Like your way of thinking...

My husband was laid off in May. I have been a stay at home mom for the past 9 year, but am currently looking for work along with DH.
I feel like I have no skills, since I haven't been employed for so long. |
quite a few here have lost their jobs. I pray it will pick up for everyone!

My hours have just reduced from 24 to 13 hours a week. I now have more time to spend on here, and quilt, and I have started doing my mum's garden for her.
Most of the jobs are not lost, they have simply been moved to China, India and other far off places where companies feel it is in their best interest to replace American workers with workers who are paid pennies an hour and have no benefits. Don't expect much improvement until Americans put on enough pressure that policy makers end unfair trade practices.
I had my hours cut a year ago. I am part time. Am doing my quilting instead.
I was with a company for 11 years, and was let go in April. Yesterday was the first interview since, today the same place gave me a phone interview, and if I passed that today, they will call me and set up a drug screening, and I will be hired. I know I will have no problem with the drug test, I just hope I did ok with the 2nd interview, things are getting really tight!

Hubby has been laid off three times in the past 5 years. First one he had to go to Mexico to train them to do his job. Second one three years ago, and after getting him a job with my company for 3 months we were both let go March 09.
I try to stay positive, we have our health, pray to keep my boys safe and return home safely (Irag and Afganistan), we have a small 401K that is paying to mortage for now. Hope something comes up soon for us and all of you. |
My husband & I own a small carpet cleaning & dyeing company. He does the work and I answer the phone and do the office work. It has been so slow this summer. Summers are usually are busiest time. I hope & pray that it picks up soon. I sure would like to hear some good news about the economy and see people getting jobs instead of losing them!!

Yes, the resturaunt I worked at justsuddenly shut their doors a month back with NO warning! We never even got our last checks........UGH! Now I am trying to make it on a part time minimum wage job........
At least I am frugal, and Thankful that at least I have the PT job, I know some dont have any. |
DH and I are retired so no worry about job loss; but our son will have been without a job for over a year. In December it will be two years. Our DIL is still working so that helps.
I got cut to 4 days a week over a year ago, but I still have that + health insurance, so I'm a lucky one.
I havent had my hours cut, just my pay! Goes with being selfemployed.
I have cut my four employees hours though, 4-8 hours a week each. Like the one woman said, means they all still have a job, otherwise one of them would have been gone. It was the best I could do. |
I had to drop back to prn, which means 5 to 6 nights a month. It is rough, but I do it for my children. DH's job has ups and downs with hours.
I retired June 2nd. Hubby has his own teeny tiny business and oldest Daughter and Son work with him, the whole company, I use to. Not making much money, enough to pay three salaries and Son's health insurance and of course taxes. Keeping overhead low is the key.

Had a real one till last fall, so now I have 2 macro/very parttime, but spoke to someone today, that knows of one more macro/very parttime, Who knows with enough littles, will keep afloat Could be in much worse shape, have to be grateful for the good things:)
I've only worked 3 weeks so far this year. My retirement fund is almost gone already (mutual funds not the IRAs). I got a call yesterday about a possible 10 week assignment that pays about $2.00 an hour less than what I usually get as a temp and it's a lot farther away but what can you do? I hope I get it.
A little over a year ago a 10% of the people working at the hospital I work at lost their jobs. We were warned a month in advance it was happening but didn't know who would loose their jobs. That was a rough month. Strangely enough they cut from the top not the bottom. Most people were in management. We were top heavy. Us peons kept our jobs. I was changed from 5 eight hour days to 3 twelve hour days. I was just happy to have my job and benefits. The nice thing is with four days off I have more time to sew. I am blessed.

My DH still has his job but he is salary & had 4 paycuts last year! We are fine but hope no more cuts have to happen. Our youngest just got a job with a lot of overtime. He's been unemployed for close to 6 months. This is a whole new type of work, so it is good experience for him. Hope he likes it because he sure needs the money!!! I pray everyday foir this economy to turn around and jobs available again!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all that the economy will turn around quickly. I'm retired and have SS, which the government didn't give us a 2% raise because the cost of living didn't go up. I wonder which planet they live on because the cost of living has gone up where I live.

I was laid off almost 2 years ago after over 13 years at the same company. I firmly believe there's a reason for everything that happens. I now cook more instead of us eating so much fast food, get to the grocery store early, and I get to sew a whole lot more. I can hit all the sales first thing in the morning. I do miss my friends from work, but we usually get together for lunch about once a month. Fortunately, our house and cars are paid off, so it's not quite a burden to us as it is for others.
