I always take my machine to Casey's in Beloit, WI. She is really good. Cost is ax $55-60. w/2-3 day turnaround. I have bought 2 machines from her in the past, plus she has repaired my two old Singers (66 treadle and 301a) She sells Janome machines but can fix any machine you bring her. She is very helpful and is very good about service and assistance. If you are close, give her a try. You will not be dissapointed. I have no affiliation with this shop. PM me if you want her# (I now live 250 mi from her but still take a road trip every year or so for my tuneup)

Just took my machine in for cleaning. $70.00 if he finds anything major wrong and it costs more than $80 he will call first. usually get it back within 2 days.

My Bernina dealer charges $95 and it usually takes a week. I have a backup machine so time is not really an issue.

What kind of sewing machine do you have? That should make a difference in price. Prices in my area are outrageous. The cost of service for my computerized Elna 7300 was $169.00 plus tax with a two week turnaround. When I was at another local quilt/sew-vac store last summer I asked them what the cost would be to service one of my 15 clones. Quoted price was $125.00. That is when I decided that I would learn to do it myself.

I pay $35 each for my Viking Lily & my DI. Have lunch with a friend and go back and pick them up. Of course I have to drive 40 miles to this shop.

Let your fingers do the walking by using the telephone book. Call and ask their rates at different shops. They wanted $69 dollars at one shop, so I called the dealer that services my make of sewing machine and it was $39 with a one year warranty of service.

I just paid $79. for my machine to be serviced, and its a Janome 10001. Turn around time is about 10 days and the shop is about 90 miles from me. So two trips but I usually take a friend with me and we buy "what else, Fabric" and do lunch.

I take my Pfaff to the LQS where I bought it. They chaarge around $75. I also have a Viking. If anything goes wrong with it, I have to take it to Joann's and wait about three weeks and pay about $129.00. They send it somewhere in the midwest to be serviced. I get charged for shipping too. What a ripoff!!!!!

I paid 149.00 for my Bernina couple weeks ago. I thought it was high but around here I think its the norm.
