What am I going to do???
My boy had his check-up today and he is 20 pounds. The vet wants him down to 15 in the next year.

Any advice?? The girls and he eat out of the same food container. I have it up on a table b/c my when my son comes over with his dog he can't reach it.

Poor Carmello!!

His Mom, Katie, behind him. She's a peanut :)

You're not going to like this, but you'll have to have timed feeding times. I have one orange cat, and he was a stray at one point, then the pound got him, then my sis got him, then gave him to me. Anyhoo, he will eat and eat and eat...and eat...like he doesn't know when the next food will arrive. Had to resort to putting down food 2x/day for him. Dunno what we'd do if we had more than one cat! :D

I agree - he doesn't look too bothered by his weight. Good luck with a solution to this though - I have two dogs and, like you, just keep the food out and they eat as they like. Neither has a weight issue (I save that "issue" just for me!) but I don't know what I'd do if I had to handle them separately.

Hope you find a way to keep everyone happy and healthy.

I have been that position before. Everyone goes on the 'diet' cat food and that others get extra treats and goodies. I stil found goodies for the 'deprived' one but they were different than the others, so he didn't feel so deprived.

You could send him to my house. I could start a kitty and doggie fat farm:):):):):)

Can you maybe feed the other cats while you hold Carmello or put Carmello in another room until the other cats are done eating? And then feed Carmello alone after you put the other cats in another room or outside? It will take a bit of time to teach them the routine, but it will work you just have to be patience. Or...when you feed all the cats, put a seperate dish down Near you for Carmello and if the other cats come to eat out of his dish...shoo them away. And if Carmello tries to eat out of their dish....shoo him away with a stern voice and tell him no...and put him in front of his dish. Its tough love with the kitties, but they will do good and will learn the routine as long as you stick with it.

Carmello looks like my Muggy and his mom looks like my sunny. we have to put some of ours in basement while we feed the older ones.
