Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I never tried it that way. I only husk the outer dark leaves off then nuke for 3 min- turn it over for 3 more min. When done I peel down the husk and the silk all comes away from the corn and the husk. I twist the husk for a handle -

iamjanet 07-28-2012 09:44 AM

After I saw this video, I tried it -- except I cooked it for only 3 mins/ear. And the husk didn't shake off very easily. My experience was more like his 2nd try. Several times I have ended up peeling the husks off <using my Ove Gloves, of course, because it's very, very hot.> Just FYI

That looks like it would be great. I'm the only one in the house who eats corn on the cob & fish. Thanks.

Thanks for letting us know :) I haven't tried it yet.

After reading about this on here, I tried it over the wk. end. By golly it sure works. Who knew!

Lyncat 07-28-2012 08:31 PM

The video is cute but I just don't love the flavor of corn cooked in the husk.

path49 07-28-2012 10:06 PM

I tried it a couple days ago & it worked great! I don't think I'll ever husk before cooking again.

ragqueen03 07-29-2012 09:10 AM

i have to try this! A local farmer bring us in huge bags of corn every year. Last year some of my co workers didn't take any and it went bad. I had to bring it home and get rid of it so he wouldn't see it in our trash. I wonder can it be freezed (once i take the corn off the cob)? I told DH i was going to take whatever was left and freeze (another co worker freezes it) rather than seeing it go to waste again!

Arleners 08-03-2012 05:09 AM

I saw this and have been doing it. You don't even have to use the microwave. I soak the ears and put them on the grill, or bake them in the oven, and the ears still come out of the husk clean and silk free. Clean up is soooooo much easier

maxo 08-06-2012 11:02 AM

After I saw this video this is the only way we eat corn on the cob! It is fast and delicious and those kernals come right off the cob cleanly!

jojo47 08-25-2012 10:34 AM

Wish I'd have known this when our sweet corn was in season. Oh, well...next year!

Here is an easy recipe for freezer corn, and you don't have to blanch it on the cob beforehand.

Frozen Sweet corn
10 cups raw corn, cut off the cob
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 lb butter (8 tbsp)
1 tsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt

Combine all ingredients in saucepan; bring to a boil and boil for 3 minutes.
Cool. Pour into freezer containers or freezer bags and freeze.

Enjoy!

I tried this and it did not work for me. But, told a friend of ours (a widower who doesn't know how to cook) and he said it worked fine for him. So, will try again soon and see if it works on different corn.

That is sooo cool-I always have silk floating all over the kitchen.

Stitchnripper 08-30-2012 11:38 AM

I tried it and it worked great. To us it tasted the same as boiled or in a microwave bag.

emmy 08-30-2012 04:59 PM

Agree with elseebee. Tried for the first time Sunday and it was excellent. It was butter and sugar which has a lot of silk and there wasn't one piece of silk to pull off.
