I ordered the pattern bags from Nancy's Notions. They have a pocket in the front for the pattern envelop and then the tissue pattern pieces can go into the section that closes. I tend to copy all my tissue patterns using a product called "Pattern Ease". There are other names for the same stuff but it doesn't tear easily so great to make my adjustments, etc. This keeps the original pattern pieces in tact in case I decide to sell it later.

My girlfriend sews often and mostly garments. She uses this method and the gallon ziplocs. She has the old pattern envelope/package as her label. She uses the bankers file boxes and labels the outside. She has mens, women's, boys, girls and infants.

This is how I store mine also.

I have a shoe dresser that I store all my non quilting patterns in. The drawers lean out with a shelf in the middle. Kinda like this one:

I looked at pattern boxes and thought they were plain and just not what I wanted.
I use decorated boxes from Joann's for lots of sewing/quilting/embroidery items, can put them on floor or on top of chest, etc. and they look pretty, as well as being useful.
The one box I have below holds 50 of my patterns.

Hello all,

How do you go about storing used patterns for clothes, etc.? Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for all the suggestions! Some things I wouldn't have even thought of. Thanks again!
