How tall is a wine bottle?
I read 12 inches online. am trying to make a wine bottle carrier. the pattern for the bottom is about 8 inches and the top with handle is also 8 inches. the top part of the pattern says to add 7 inches at the bottom of it. sigh. Just wondering. how tall is the wine bottle? i have a purchased pattern and one free one.

Some red wine bottles are 13 inches, some are 12 inches. Some white wine bottles especially the more slender chic type are 13-14 inches tall. Definitely add the extra height so that the carrier closes over the bottle.
These measurements are for regular 750 ml/75cl bottles; champagne/cava/sparkling wine bottles may be taller. |
well that sounds all right then. i will have to read more because the directions are not clear to me yet. thanks.

Does the pattern have an opening at the top like a paper bag? if it does normally you would tie a ribbon on it and fold the top down like a cuff and the top of the bottle is exposed. If you're using a pattern that has one piece with a bottom part and a long handle all in one piece then you want it to be long so you can get the bottle in it.

Take your trusty tape measure and go to Wally-world and measure the wine bottle for sale. I think I have measured about everything in many places. Have fun, our projects shouldn't be a chore!

If you still need to know, I will volunteer to test several bottles for you. Just kidding. Happy sewing, the wine bottle caddies are so neat, I have debated about making one for a Dirty Santa gift exchange with a bottle of wine of course.

Better a little big rather than too small .....

Ha, ha. girls will be girls. well, it's the Holiday season. I am about to sew the sides of the tote and then turn right side out, then add the bottom circle. This should look good when done. keep your fingers crossed.
