No idea who got all that money. I suppose the tow truck guy made out like a bandit, and he was legit.

OMG, DH used to do this when he was a kid. Park cars down dead end streets and fill them up. Got caught trying to park cars in the church lot, the monsignor came down hard on him!!

It may not be true but it sure is a good story! I found it funny.

I have learned that snopes does not research everything...It is just a husband and wife team that gets their info from the net just like we do....

It still was a good story.

Its a great story, true or not...its funny.

Real or not, this does sound like it could have happened. No one really does much research in things like this. You expect parking fees, someone asks for parking fees so you pay them. Everyone in the zoo thinks the other guy counts the money..

It's a neat story anyway. I like it. Might give lots of people ideas they didn't have before.

Reminds me of a couple of years ago, folks were collecting money for some charity or other, so when I saw a teen aged girl standing at a stop light the third day in a row, I began to wonder when I saw other teen girls sitting in a near by parked car guzzling sodas. I cruised by, stopped to read the sign she was holding, and yanked out a camera and loudly told her how nice it would be to put her picture in the paper...she whirled around and ran in front of other cars to get to her friends and they left rapidly. It was right before school started, she must have needed new clothes. I don't trust anyone much anymore.

There was a young girl here in our little town who wanted to go to cheerleading camp, so she grabbed her water hose, and a poster board. Her problem came in when she said that the car wash was for the high school cheerleading squad and she had one of the little buinesses here in town match the money. It was a big scandal here!! There were letters to the editor in the paper and everything! lol!!

Here in Dublin we've long had what are known as "lockhards". Their scam was to "direct" you into a free parking place, then ask for money to "look after" your car. Of course the implied threat was that if you didn't pay up, who knows what would've happened to it...

There are a lot fewer of them now since the city centre is all paid parking, but I did see some outside the Mater Hospital a couple of years ago!
