I am glad I found out one thing.

The following write-up explains so much!

"Ever walk into a room with some purpose in mind, only to completely forget what that purpose was? Turns out, doors themselves are to blame for these strange memory lapses. Psychologists at the University of Notre Dame have discovered that passing through a doorway triggers what's known as an 'event boundary' in the mind, separating one set of thoughts and memories from the next. Your brain files away the thoughts you had in the previous room and prepares a blank slate for the new locale."

It's not aging that causes us to forget; it's the stupid door!

Whew! I am thankful for studies!

Wow, a scientific explanation for wandering aimlessly around the house trying to remember what I forgot!:D

I'll take that explanation. Sounds good and it sure gives them something good to occupy their time. I wonder how much that study cost.

Yeah, but....... you see, in my old cottage there aren't any doors, except on the bathroom. And of course the front and back doors. But none between rooms; not even on the bedroom closet - just on the two closets each side of the original fireplace. :(

Why does my mind forget when I walk ACROSS the room -- all open with not even any walls, much less doors?? I think it's just standing up from my chair. I think it's just rolling off the bed after a snooze. I think it's just carrying my plate to the table from the kitchen.

I think ........WAIT....!!!
I've got it!!!!
.....They thought it was doors, but it's really just moving the body!!!! WHOA!!
This opens a whole new study opportunity, the case against exercise......HUH!!!

That's MY story and I'm sticking to it!

Sounds good to me but what about when there is no doorway

TShooters 10-24-2012 07:38 AM

I think that warrants a new study, Jan in VA. :D In my case, it's just the turning around to go do it/get it/.
