Marlys 01-01-2011 10:17 AM

Lots of snow here. At 6:00 this morning it was -16. I realized our furnace quite about 4:00 but we got it running about 5:00. I am so glad we did not have to call anyone on a holiday!

A blizzard 2 weeks ago & now there is nothing left. It's strange. My backyard looks the same way now. Last week there was at least 3 inches of snow still

Tina BH 01-01-2011 03:55 PM

34 inches on the Jersey shore ---- lots of inside time to quilt !!

Don't worry, it just made room for more. Same thing happened here. Only snow that is left are little piles where it had been shovelled or plowed into heaps. Marge

Oh, honey, I don't know where you are in Michigan, but we are having a heck of a wind storm and it is going to snow for about a week in the northern lower!!!! How long are you in Michigan for???? I went to breakfast this morning with my husband and just wore a sweatshirt (no coat) was 45 degrees, tonight need a coat,scarf,hat,gloves....it is 20 degrees and the wind is blowing at 30-40 mph (wind chill is -10).

homequilter 01-01-2011 06:01 PM

Fine with me the snow is gone here in Michigan-had enough for Christmas-don't mind a few flakes but none of this 8-12" at a time!!!

Nancy O. 01-01-2011 06:16 PM

I live in SE Michigan and our snow is gone today. I love when the snow melts off the roof and the grass. The snow was so dirty looking after being on the ground for a couple of weeks. It will snow again, and we will have someplace to pile it up again. It can be bad when it keeps building up on the roof. Don't want any roof problems. Oh,the joys of living in Michigan

auntiehenno 01-01-2011 07:51 PM

How about Wyo and SD. We had beutiful flakes yesterday here in Denver area and bitterly cold wind chill factor.

Gramie bj 01-01-2011 08:04 PM

We have plenty in North Central Washington State(20 min so of Canadan border) Last 4 days highs have been between 3-10 don't know chill facter but lots of wind

Linsoblu 01-02-2011 01:33 AM

We still have a lot of snow and tonight the wind blowing like crazy, but I do live 82 miles from Yellowstone National Park. I love the snow and the cold can always get warm with more clothes or a nice warm quilt, but summer you can only take so much off or you scare the little kids!!

I did the same thing (mid missouri) we had two days that the temps were in the high 50's low 60's, turned off the furnace and opened the windows. Came home last night and it was chilly in the dining room so I turned the little heater on. This morning I woke up and it was down right FREEZING in there, then one of the kids looked out the window at the neighbor dog and said look Kenz, the window is open and there is ice on it! WHAT? My husband "closed" the windows the other night however he left that one open about an inch.

The weather was nice but I feel horrible for the people who lost their homes in St. Louis and Rolla due to the tornados. I was going to go help them I got word they didn't want "storm chasers" (ie anyone who didn't live there even though they were willing to help clean crap up and or donate items or money) in their neighborhoods so I stayed home.

Grinster 01-02-2011 08:12 AM

Woke up this morning in Portage, MI to new snow covering the ground and it has been snowing all morning. Yeah!

Here in south Ontario, Canada, the remains of the super storm we had just before Christmas is also gone. Downriver! It all melted over the last couple of days, and now downriver they're having flooding. Go figure!
