Please indulge me, I am so excited and have to tell you...this has been a long time coming!

Today our “baby” got the job she seemed destined for. After a lifetime of relentless practicing at it, she can ARGUE and now she actually gets paid for it! :-D

She was selected to be the new deputy prosecuting attorney in the criminal division for our county, which is one of the largest in Washington state. Most of her arguments will now take place in front of a judge, and hopefully her arguments with dad and I will become only a distant memory! :-D

So if your babies are still young, and they drive you to the brink at times with their arguments and tenacity, please remember this: they are just practicing!;-)

Charlee 01-22-2010 09:20 PM

Congrats on doing a good job Mom! (and Dad too! ;) ) Congrats to your "baby" for working hard and getting where she wants to be!
Awesome news!!

ladygen 01-22-2010 09:21 PM

Yaaaa for King County. What an accomplishement. OH I guess that means I better behave myself when I come over for the Sewing Expo. I'll have to work on that.
Good for her and for you and your husband for being such awesome parents.

nursie76 01-22-2010 09:37 PM

Awesome! You have every right to be proud! Just remember part of the credit goes to you, you allowed her to practice her debating skills!

That's wonderful! Big congrats to all.

lots2do 01-23-2010 04:36 AM

Oh, congratulations!
And thanks for the heads-up that all of this debating and arguing is for a good cause. Our teenager announced that he wants to be a lobbyist or a political analyst last night. I had a similar feeling - so that's what all that verbal back and forth was building up to!

Congratulations!

Only, if you think her arguments with you might be over... just realize she'll become that much more practiced at them. ;-)

AtHomeSewing 01-23-2010 09:39 AM

Thanks everyone, we are so happy...just can't help it! She has always worked to be a public servant so she is realizing what she has worked so hard for.

Thank you dglvr, however not King, we live just north of King County line, in Snohomish County. So close that our mail goes to Woodinville, which is in King County.

It sounds like she's well on her way! And, she is lucky to have you as mom!

Yes!! Keep it that in mind while he's "lobbying" you!

She's spent her entire young life doing pubic service, so for her this means that she is priviledged to continue. As parents nothing is more rewarding than knowing that your child has found happiness and fulfillment.

Thanks again to you all!

Esqmommy 01-23-2010 09:42 AM

Oh, and I have an arguing daughter. She drives me CRAZY!!!!!!!!! Do you mean to tell me there's light at the end of this 11 year-old's tunnel????

Indeed, consider yourself lucky! And, at 11, she's going to be "practicing" on you a lot more. Lucky for you that you have a legal education and can frame the debate! ;-) When she's driving you crazy, just remember she's honing those skills! :-D

Marcia 01-23-2010 09:50 AM

Congrats---you have every right to brag and feel proud.

barnbum 01-23-2010 02:29 PM

That is very exciting news!! You deserve this brag!! :-D Moms feel what their kids feel--so I can understand your elation!!

That is sure the truth!! My daughter started college as a trombone major--that lasted until the August before she started classes. Then she went Bio (not enough), then BioChem (kind of hard), now she's Bio/Psy and has never been happier. Finally!! I hope she gets the job of her dreams someday, too.

adriansmom 01-23-2010 02:36 PM

Go ahead and brag...that is quite an accomplishment. When we adopted our DS he was 2.5 yrs old. After the session the judge asked him if he wanted to sit in the witness stand. Most kids would find this cool!! Not my son, he shook his head and headed straight to the JUDGE'S chair!! I have pics!! Everyone laughed and judge says "start saving for law school" Hopefully it was a sign that he doesn't want to be in the witness chair and he'll stay out of trouble..especially considering we have 2 deputy sherriffs, and 1 city cop in the family. One of those even works at the jail!! LOL

Honey 01-23-2010 02:40 PM

Congratulations!! You all have a right to be proud!

Janstar 01-23-2010 05:35 PM

Congrats to her and you! That's an amazing achievement!

Jingle 01-23-2010 05:39 PM

I have a debating Granddaughter and debating Grandson, cousins . She wanted to be a paralegal, doesn't know for sure now. He wants to be a coach. We'll see how it turns out for them. They both would argue with a brick wall if it ever said something to them.
