I am Switching over for a while

I am in the painting mood and I will not be quilting for a while. I need a break from all the sewing. I will still read the board and will make a mug rug here and there and if the mood strikes, make something small. I have been in a cleaning and de-junking fit.

Both hubby and I have going from room to room, mainly my junk lol and pulling out stuff. Two totally loaded cars have already gone to the Goodwill. I got rid of furniture and bunches of craft supplies. It feels so good.

have fun rosy and thanks for posting all your beautiful work do you mean house painting rooms or picture painting portiraits

Hopefully you will get your house in order real fast and get back to quilting. My fits of decluttering doesn't last long. My energy level isn't as high as it use to be. I got rid of most of my non quilting supplies when our oldest Granddaughter moved in with us. That was eight years ago and she moved out this past March. I really miss her but I took her room for a much larger sewing room.
I don't miss the stuff I donated. I just plan on my quilts with the time I have left here.

Good for you (dejunking)!! Glad you'll still be reading posts and enjoy the painting! :-)

Nammie to 7 09-02-2013 06:11 PM

Hopefully you will check in and keep us posted on what wonderful things you are doing even if it isn't sewing! I know what you mean about decluttering - cleaned under the bathroom sink today - threw away two grocery bags worth of junk! How does it accumulate so fast?

We'll miss you Rosy, don't stay gone too long!!!

Doesn't it feel great? I have been mega cleaning room by room. Now all my walls are dusted, baseboards clean, windows and screens clean and curtains washed- still have a pair of valances and the bedroom curtains to iron, poo. I maybe the only one to notice, but it sure does feel good. After washing all the baseboards and dusting I know I have a lot of painting to do this winter - in between quilting. My walk-in closet needs a mega cleaning so that's when I go to Goodwill! That's not going to happen until next week, my sisters are coming up from Louisville today and we need to travel to all the quilt stores we can before they go back Sat!

Enjoy your break!

nativetexan 09-03-2013 07:05 AM

Oh have loads of fun with that. I keep telling myself to get back to doing some painting but can't seem to do it. Cleaning house does help give one more "room" to do things. Good for you!!

YEA! for you, I have done some dejunking, still need more needs to be done.

tessagin 09-03-2013 07:16 AM

sometimes we just need a vacation from it all. See you when you get back and let us enjoy some of your paintings.

May I suggest you do not give to Goodwill. the owner of that organization is a millionaire. Please give it to a church or to the salvation army where no one becomes a millionaire from donated goods.

trolleystation 09-03-2013 04:49 PM

I know what you are saying. Last year I felt as though the house owned me instead of me owning the house. Felt sooooo good to get rid of 'stuff'.

You are so right. One of my friends at the gym asked to save stuff for her church fair where they practically give the stuff away and I will do that, I still have lots to go.

Rosyhf 09-03-2013 08:25 PM

I will read everyday and post as this board is my enjoyment too.

Caswews 09-04-2013 10:11 AM

LOL I have done all the dejunking I am doing for a while ... Now time to sew and crochet ! Have fun painting be sure to show us what you come up with !

nancia 09-04-2013 09:32 PM

Is it in the air? I have invited my two girls to come up and help me unload some stuff onto them. They can share a trailer and haul any of it back home with them, or lot s of it to goodwill, or the dump. I still want to sew, however! I wish they could have done it yesterday, or last week. I hate having a good idea and then having to wait to do it!!
Enjoy your painting! Perhaps you could do some beautiful blocks for a painted quilt? Sounds like fun to me! I need to repaint my front door. Ten years ago i painted sprays of morning glories, so now it's time to repaint them or add new blooms and other flowers. Enjoy your art and post pictures! We'd love to see what you are doing!

Rosyhf 09-05-2013 11:31 AM

Yep, still hauling stuff out hahahahahah. I went to my gym this morning with a car full for one of the ladies who asked to have some for her church fair. I unload the lot to her, she was so happy and we are not as done as I thought. I can't believe that I don't even remember the stuff hubby is hauling out of the garage. Bins of it lol......Ok, some good news.

He has hauled out 8 bins of gourds. These are small bowl size ones already cut and ready to paint they are already prepped. I am going to paint these first and do some little craft shows at the church or school and sell them at a very reasonable price. I will also do some mug rugs as both these items will make great teacher gifts or whatever.

I am going to paint them in the style of Peter Ompir (google him). Which will be flowers, roosters, colonial men and fruit and boy do I have the ideas, I dreamt about it last night lol. I can't wait. I still have to wait tho, lol but as soon as I start, I will post some in a thread called Peter ompir style.

This might be a silly ? When you say painting, is it the walls or canvas?:D If canvas, I would love to see!

take care while away from us.

EDIT: It was a silly ? answered above. Ha

Hahaha Ube, but I do paint on canvas too sometimes. Right now tho, I will do some decorative painting or folk art as it is such fun and lets one be creative with great paint. I am try out a new paint called, Heritage Muliti Media paint.

I will read the board everyday anyway and maybe do a few clams too inbetween.....Remember, that on page three of the clam shell, there is another pdf of a larger shell.

Thanks rosy, I forgot about the larger one. I looked at Peter Ompir's work and remember now how popular this style was. My mom was doing this style painting for a while back in the 50s. Very nice

Good for you! You are fortunate to have an artistic talent to expand upon. And who knows some of it may show up in a quilt idea!!
