I cannot remove my tennis bracelet.

On Christmas day, I wore my diamond tennis bracelet for the second time in a year or so. After 5 days of trying, I still cannot remove it and will most likely need to visit our local jewelry store for assistance. The closure has the slim flat piece that slides into a channel and then you close a safety latch on the side. Don't want to press and pull at random as I might harm the bracelet. This certainly is not an everyday piece. Would appreciate any tips. THX!

first undo the figure 8 on the side. that will pop off at the hinge.
second push doen on the side or top, there is a little bump of metal that sticks out.
this may take 2 people to do, you;ll have to tug hard.
next it might be like a pearl clasp. depending on the diamond wt of the bracelet.
if it's like a pearl clasp. you'll have to twist this out. if not
push down on the bump of gold and pull hard. this is all set up for your safty.
different locks are done differently. do you know your ct. wt? usually over 7 ct. there
are two figure 8 sides locks. try this hope it helps.

Lynnie, thank you. The little metal bump is on the side. Are you saying I should push it DOWN (towards my arm) or push it IN (towards the bracelet)???

I wear a gold watch that has the same type clasp....you undo the figure 8 on the side. The figure 8 is hinged on one end....lift the other end off. It should just pop off the little ball. Then locate the part that slides in....there should be another piece of gold sticking up above the edge of the bracelet....mine is flat in shape. Press that down towards your arm & pull the bracelet apart.

This site shows a drawing of clasps....scroll about half way down:

Yes you should wear and enjoy it more often. I have a pair of Damond studs mr bill gave to me almost 15 years a go at first I rarely wore them afraid I would loose one. The a lovely older woman told me I should always wear them get my monies worth......why only wear them on special occasions when everyday I can be special.... I loved her advice and ivebnot taken them off since.

Also Lynnie gives excellent advice on removal.

Yep that is why I started wearing my diamond earrings: I had an elderly lady of the town tell me that I am worth the time, effort to always be my best and I should always wear my best when I am out and about. She was always dressed to the 9's when she went somewhere. Even when she was at home: nice sweat pants & top and her earrings and a bracelet. Why put your beautiful jewelry in the jewelry chest to maybe wear it someday. Someday will come and be gone before you know it.

Billi, thank you for the advice to wear the diamond studs that I have had for a number of years. Like so many I worry that I will lose one but what good are they to me in the jewelry box. MarleneC

If your backs are good on your earrings, you should wear them. I got diamond studs from my parents when I graduated from high school. Mom gave me a choice; a party or the earrings. I chose the earrings. They were and still are worth more than the party and have lasted a lot longer than the party. I got both. That was in 1968. I've only not wore the earrings maybe total of few months of and on because of receiving other earrings. DH gets me earrings every Christmas. Always different. This year was 2 pair of gold (1 pair of gold stud and 1 pair of gold loop w/clasp). They always fit. The only time I would take that bracelet off would be if I was going to do a lot of rough work where it could get caught up in. Love tennis bracelets, simple but elegant.
