I will have to go and find that bird feeder! I did see the bottle hummingbird feeder at WalMart. Both are great!

That's a funny story. We have a wooded back yard and the squirrels drive us crazy. We keep having to buy new gas lines for our grill because the little !@#$%^&* chew holes in it. But why? They dig up my flower pots on the deck, every day I find a mess out there. We bought one of those faces you put on a tree and put it on a large tree that is at the corner of our deck. A squirrel ran to the edge to jump on the tree saw the face and which apparently scared him and he missed the tree and fell to the ground. We laughed so hard that day. They are used to "Woody" the tree face now. Next stop WalMart Sporting goods for a BB Gun. My DH has a blast with that thing! The squirrels around my house all have sore butts.

Hope the birds appreciate your hard work you are doing for them.

We have woods right behind our house, and TONS of squirrels. We pretty much gave up on buying birdfeeders. They'd outsmart every single one.
We even put short lengths of PVC pipe on a clothes line, and hung the birdfeeder in the middle. Theoretically the squirrels would walk down the clothes line, and the PVC pipe would spin them right off. The little stinkers figured out how to jump straight to the birdfeeder, totally bypassing the clothesline itself. I wouldn't mind the squirrels so much if they'd stop invading our attic. Every time DH figures out where they're coming in, and blocks them off, they find or make a new way in. He's tried trapping them, but they're too smart. He finally parked himself on the back patio, and waited, BB gun in hand, for the attic invaders. One by one, he took out the "worst offenders" ... for now. :| Like Arnold Schwarzenegger, they'll be back ... |

This is what my friend does with her pesky squirrels. Then she transports them to a park 6 miles away from her house and releases them.

I have found the best thing to use is a 22. We have a cedar sided house and they eat it. We spent $5000 to have it painted and now there are chew marks all over. So I got over it and now just shoot them. Lynn 55+ squirrels 0

we have 50 gallon metal drums and one of those old stle metal garbage cans- Like to see the little suckers eat thru them.

LOLOL - they are so clever! Guess in life you are either pro-squirrel or anti-squirrel. I tend to enjoy them.
That said, they can get into everything, and that can be a real problem. You seem to have the problem solved ingeniously too. Good luck with the feeders. Julie |

Me too! i asked my husband to get the shot gun out for me,and what i was gonna do with it..(he has hid it from me now!) the squirrels were driving me nuts..and my dogs..they are so bold they sit on the wire and chatter at my JRT's, which causes them to bark like crazy! i am sure the neighbors would rather shoot my dogs! when the squirrels are around, i bring the dogs in..! my neighbor has fed the dang squirrels before! i am in the city.. |
