Was outside cleaning up after dogs last night, heard that beautiful song! Looked up and thankfully the trees are bare so that firs Robin was easy to spot.

Ahhh ... this has been a much awaited Spring.

PegD 03-02-2011 06:00 AM

That mean's they are coming this way. Hopefully soon.

CarrieAnne 03-02-2011 06:02 AM

Send him my way, (north)!!!!!!!!!!

dream56 03-02-2011 06:30 AM

Yeah Spring is Coming Soon

NikkiLu 03-02-2011 06:30 AM

I saw ONE robin yesterday here in SW Missouri. My DD in Paducah KY saw hundreds of them in her back yard/pine trees a couple of weeks ago! My DH saw a huge flock of white geese flying north about a week ago!

suezquilts 03-02-2011 06:36 AM

I saw 2 Blue Birds last week, before it snowed.

kwhite 03-02-2011 06:38 AM

I heard on the news last night we are 10 inches of snow short of average!!! Coulda fooled me!

Connie in CO 03-02-2011 06:44 AM

Those silly Robins, they splash out all the water in the birdbath in the summer time .

Hosta 03-02-2011 07:19 AM

we had a robin most of the winter which is very unusual but I haven't seen it in the last couple weeks maybe its out flirting with the chicks

yolanda 03-02-2011 07:20 AM

Awww will someone take a picture for me? We don't have robins here.

jenny Line 03-02-2011 08:11 AM

Good! That is a sure sign that Spring is on its way! I think that we are all ready!

Jenny:)

Aquarius 03-02-2011 08:28 AM

I have a Robin too, but not the kind you are looking at. Mine is 32. I use to call her Robin Bird as a child, and she hated it . lol

Sadiemae 03-02-2011 08:32 AM

Lucky You!
So far we only have sparrows and starlings, but the cat outside has decided they are good for him to practice his hunting skills.

Well they won't be splashing in water now!! It's still cold in NE Ia. But thanks for the heads up. And blue birds in Cashton--spring just may come after all!

gmaybee 03-02-2011 04:31 PM

I had robins about three weeks ago with two feet of snow on the ground. They were in the sumac bushes eating the berries. Then the same day I saw a blue bird. We usually do have the blue birds come early, but not the robins that early.

annyroony2 03-02-2011 05:07 PM

I have robins also! and so thankful to see them!!!!

Quilter7x 03-02-2011 06:10 PM

I saw a flock of robins about two weeks ago and saw a bluebird last week. I know we have bluebirds in this area, but last week was only the third time in the 21 years I have lived in this house that I saw them.

I also see my crocus coming up. They're usually in blossom at the end of February because they're in a protected area against the house, but we had way too much snow and cold this year.

C'mon spring, I'm ready!

Janet My 03-03-2011 04:49 AM

I've had a flock of Red Winged Black Birds here the last 2 days. Spring is coming!!!!

jad1044 03-03-2011 05:24 AM

My DH just read where robins are beginning to winter over in many northern states as far north as Alaska! What is going on? We had a pair here all winter too - in Missouri!

omaknits 03-03-2011 06:51 AM

We had our first robbins arrive last Sunday. We have had no snow this winter and everything is very, very dry. I also had a large crow in my maple tree outside the kitchen window last night. Spring is coming to northern Colorado.

Pat in Fort Collins

The Bradford Pear trees are all blooming here, also daffodils, and I know I will spell it wrong the forsitheyia, little yellow flowers on a bush.

Aurora 03-03-2011 07:55 AM

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble but we have had robins all winter here in Kentucky. There are a few areas in the United States that do not have robins all year, but for the most part they do not migrate. This is a link to a migration map for American Robins:

Arleners 03-03-2011 08:33 AM

I live on Long Island in New York and saw a Robin about two days ago. He was feasting on worm in my back yard.
As you can see from the migration map provided by Aurora- The Robins do go away from here for the winter.

Here comes the sun!!!!!! La la la la
Here comes the sun
And I say
It's all right

sassy granny 03-03-2011 12:20 PM

I had a yard full a week or so ago. They sure did look pretty. Had a big fat one of the patio yesterday. He must have wintered good somewhere.

Marge L. 03-03-2011 01:24 PM

Haven't seen any here yet, which is a bit unusual. They usually appear just before we get a batch of snow and cold wave, again so they can get their little behinds frozen. Did see a gaggle of geese fly over yesterday. We'll get something this week because it's girl's state basketball. It rarely fails.

redeagle 03-03-2011 02:08 PM

Just noticed that my redbud is budding here in central TX. Ah, Spring!

awf60 03-03-2011 02:28 PM

No fair, we just got another four inches of snow this morning!

EskapetheNorm 03-03-2011 02:42 PM

Much better than the dead pidgeon that the cat left on the back doorstep here as a "present".

martyr 03-03-2011 02:51 PM

Walked around the house today and some bulbs have sprouted! Hurrah! Started some early seeds and almost all my ordered seeds etc have come. DH is going to build me a light stand and a new raised bed this year so hope to grow more veggies. Yeah!

Martha Hamman 03-03-2011 03:44 PM

We had a pasture field full of Robins this afternoon.

scrappy happy 03-03-2011 05:33 PM

they say that , the first robin u see is how high ur money pile will be for the yr, if u see him on the ground than no money if u see him higher up that is how high the pile will be . u seen yours in a tree wow, lets go cloth shopping lol.

donnalynett 03-03-2011 07:37 PM

We've had lots of robins for about 3 or 4 weeks now but no sign of spring.....yet. Well, my daffodils survived the storms so I guess that might be a sign of better weather to come.

gzuslivz 03-03-2011 09:24 PM

Well, we had hail today and snow earlier this week. We have no idea what season it is, and neither do the flowers.

Retired to Quilt 03-03-2011 09:25 PM

I live in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Virginia. This is pretty cold territory in the winter months and we've had lots of cold for the last 3 months.
Today we saw a beautiful fat robin (our first sighting) and 4 purple finches eating berries from a vine in the backyard.
I also have sweet purple crocuses blooming.

Dotsie 03-03-2011 10:16 PM

I'm so glad your spring is in sight. I always have a few robins in my garden, I wonder if they look the same as yours. Do you know why the robin has a red breast.

Dotsie 03-03-2011 10:25 PM

Answer: a little gray bird was hopping around the cross and a drop of blood has fallen on his breast that's where he got the red from.

Anne P 03-03-2011 11:27 PM

I've seen several in the last week or so, and today my DH said the sparrows are buildiing a nest in one of the birdhouses! Yeah!!!!

GramaLaura 03-04-2011 07:40 PM

Spring has sprung in Georgetown Texas. The red buds are coming out and that is just the beginning :-D

grammysharon 03-04-2011 10:30 PM

I saw one today too!

aliceg 03-06-2011 04:34 PM

It'll be a long time before we see robins in Saskatchewan - has been -30 degrees C lately only -17.9 now - the chickadee's love it here thou. Lot's of snow to melt first.
