You've got to be kidding me. Wish I could have come to yours.

sueisallaboutquilts 06-06-2011 07:54 AM

Me too! But especially fur babies- never get tired of them!
Love vintage machines too but the furbabes beat all! :D

ptquilts 06-06-2011 08:01 AM

I always have to see what other people found at thrift shops etc. - it's like shopping vicariously.

My neighbor has had a yard sale out for a week and has sold a whole $35 worth of stuff. Lots of people showed but have no money to spend.

bluteddi 06-06-2011 08:16 AM

I WISH I found garage sales with fabric!!!

alikat110 06-06-2011 09:09 AM

I get jealous of the finds

Painiacs 06-06-2011 10:04 AM

Can I come over for fabric leftovers?????? Roflmbo!!!

BrendaY 06-06-2011 10:22 AM

I love yard sales too... and buy a lot of sewing items and fabrics at them. Sort of have a collection of sewing baskets now, and it's fun to add small items to them. It's a fun hobby!

frauhahn 06-06-2011 10:22 AM

I especially love the furbabies and the vintage machines!

bebe 06-06-2011 10:32 AM

That is the hard thing about the times we live in. Many people want to spend their money but they have none to spend. Also, quilting and the like are becoming a lost art. I am 38 years old and many of my friends don't even cook much less quilt.

You see so many people on here that find deals at thrift store and garage sales...I guess I'm not that lucky or else I find the bargins when I'm short on money...you know SS.

firequilt 06-07-2011 04:43 AM

I had a garage sale too and people were looking for fabric.
I keep all my fabric!

Harrishs Your kitty has a real nice start on a stash of her/his own :-D I too love to see all the good deals and finds of every ones Treasure Hunts and all the critters -quilts -etc...etc...

sandpat 06-07-2011 05:39 AM

Oh, I love to see it too..."junking" is one of our favorite things to do! We try to go to a junk store everyday just to see what new stuff he has gotten in!

Emma S 06-07-2011 06:40 AM

Yes, love all the above and also pictures of sewing spaces. Can't get enough.

mama's place 06-07-2011 06:49 AM

It's so funny the difference in areas of the country, to me. Our thrift stores rarely have fabric unless it is upholstery fabric leftovers. Yard sales also don't often have fabric. Just hate when I see an add for our nearest large cit...Montgomery and they have either a yard sale or estate sale and they mention quilts or fabric and I can't make up there that day!!! Rats!!! Probably for the best, though. I don't really need any!

Yes, I love seeing yard sale, thrift store finds, furbabies, and the excitement of a new owner of a FW. Also love pictures of sewing rooms and quilting tips.

mrs. fitz 06-07-2011 11:42 AM

Greenheron 06-07-2011 12:04 PM

You show me your's and I'll show you mine..........as soon as I figure out how to post pics.

luce321 06-07-2011 04:11 PM

DiDi, Don't give up on the thrift stores. I was feeling the same way when one day I walked into Goodwill and could not believe that there were not one, but three sewing machines for sale. There were two Kenmores, one green and the other beige, both in cabinets. I never tried them out, but they looked in very good condition. The last one was a Necchi in a beautiful desklike cabinet with three large drawers, attachments and book. I tried it out and it worked well. They were all about the same price. I got the Necchi for $28.00 with tax. She agreed to come down from $35.00. Just keep looking, something will come along.

I love seeing all the treasures too, especially the FW or any machine - like a walk thru the history of sewing!

serenitybygrace 06-07-2011 05:24 PM

I guess it is worth it to keep going to Goodwill and Salvation Army stores. I rarely find fabric or sewing machines that I think I might want. I did find an Accuquilt cutter, a 2" die as well as the cutting mat. I was EXCITED!! I paid $75 for the accuquilt and $50 for the die and cutting mat. I thought that was pretty good after looking at e-Bay and other web sites. All three are practically brand new.

I probably would have bought it all but I doubt if my hubby would let me drive that far for a garage sale!
