Those are really handsome, but I'm curious as to how you avoid having the fabric ravel.

I don't know what fabric Sandygirl used but the ones I have seen are made from leather or suede so they don't fray.

On the fabric tassel, I use a 2-sided fusible between two layers of fabric.

Same technique I used on this purse.

Aha! What is great about this site is that members respond to follow-up questions. I had never thought about fusing two fabrics to form an entirely new fabric, which could be cut for free-form shapes.

I've never seen them made from plain cotton before. That is a very cool idea. Thanks for sharing on how you did it.
