I need good slippers.
 

Has anyone found good slippers with arch support? I have tried the Dearfoam, Isotoner, etc. I have tried some that have memory foam. They are not good. I have read good and bad reviews about Acorn brand. I found some that started with "H", can't remember the brand now, but the reviews said they fall apart in six months or less.

Any ideas? I love my Nothinz, but find I wear the outer side out too fast by pronating.

My grandmother used to wear Daniel Green brand slippers. I believe they had arch supports and I think they are still sold.

I wear Halflinger (I'm not sure of the spelling). They have a wool top and very warm. Great arch support.

Have you thought about getting Crocs? They have many different style now. The real Crocs have good arch support and they last forever. I am using a pair right now that are more fitted with no holes and I LOVE them.

You could try putting arch supports into a quality shoe slipper. Like an LL Bean moc.

Other than that, no ideas. I also like good house slippers (in need of a pair now, I've worn holes in these!) and I've got my eye on a nice pair of LL Bean moccasin slippers.

I have a similar problem and recently bought some Acorns. Love them so far! My feet get very cold in the winter and they are very warm. The arch support is excellent and if they hold up, they'll be a good investment.

I have a pair of 'houseshoes' I bought from Land's End years ago. They are still in good shape and have great support.

I second the Crocs - I have 4 pairs. I like the ones with the lining - so warm and comfy. I have plantar faciitis, so good support is a necessity.

I'll have to get some for my hubby. He had the same thing (I'd never heard of it). Have you tried the off-brand ones at Walmart?

I have had surgery on both feet and still have to be careful of plantar fascitis and achiles tendon problems; which is all related. My slippers were $70 a few years ago and still in good shape. I always think of Tempurpedic - the mattress, but the first 3 letters still visible on my slippers is ROM. Fleece and foam are not support. I could walk all day in my slippers and my feet love them. Guess I had better do a "search" so I can replace these one day.

I have wore crocs for years. I have very wide short feet with high arches. I was having lots of pain with my knees. Now I hardly have any pain at all.

You might want to take a look at Footsmart.com. They have a good selection of the better (and more expensive) slippers, and good info on what conditions might be helped by a particular shoe.

I've been wearing LL Bean moccasins for years.. They have great support, so you might not need arch support.. I pronate really bad, and have been wearing arch supports since I was a kid.. There is a new ninor operation to correct flat feet.. My insurance will pay for it, but the doc that I trust is not in my plan..

Get real crocs - the knock offs aren't as good

My first pair of house slippers a few years ago, had real tread of them. Man, you could have gone hiking in these. They were from Lands End. Nice, warm shoe. Still have them but they have stretched out but are still able to wear them with socks. Then last year my youngest son got me a pair of Acorn's . They didn't come in 1/2 sizes, so he ordered me a 1/2 smaller, They have stretched out and just love them. Holding up very well and I wear them all the time.

On average, my Acorn slippers last me 5 years and I do wear them out to get the paper each morning from the paper tube. I love them.

I wear Acorn slippers year round and love them but they do not have arch support. If I needed it, I would buy a slip in arch support liner for them. As I'm home and wear nothing on my feet but these slippers in the house all year (adding wool socks in winter), they last about a year or so.

No. I thought the price for Crocs was reasonable. If your hubby has plantar faciitis still, he might look into Z-Coil shoes. They saved me. I was able to go all day long with those shoes on.

He actually hasn't had any problems with his foot since he stopped eating meat.

How odd - I noticed I stopped having problems after I stopped taking birth control!

I started wearing tie shoes a few years ago at the recommendation of FlyLady. I wear some decent Nike sport shoes and a pair of walk fit arch supports. It is a very clean,warm, comfortable to take care of my feet!!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I like Nothinz better than the Crocs I have tried. I have wide forefoot, small heel, and also have plantar facitis. The problem with the Nothinz is one size is too big, and the other too small. Last time I bought a smaller size and my bunionette hits right where there is a hole so it is irritating.

I wear them year round, with socks in the Winter. They have great support, I guess my foot shrank some more since the size I used to wear is too wide in front. They are slipper style rather than clogs, which is great in the Summer.

I have airwalks, comfortable, warm and pretty wine color with fuzzy fur, slip ons. I searched forever and got them at payless! I even drove in them to the company Christmas Party and had the valet person wait while I slipped into my dress sandals - he laughed at me! But my toes were warm! (ps all the parking was valet only)

Those are the ones I like, too. I get the ones with the sole you can wear outdoors and they last forever. They sort of mold to your foot a little like Birkenstock. I looked for a long time because of my foot problems and I am very happy with these. Unfortunately they are pretty expensive, but they really last.

I have had Acorn slippers for several years...they are my favorite slippers. I have gotten others as gifts, but never wear them as much as the Acorns.

It's a possibility, that's all we could think of when my pain eased. Doesn't explain how it started, though. I've often wondered if it had anything to do with the fact that my feet grew a whole size with each pregnancy. :(

I like the airwalks too! I used to wear the sandal type slip on, but Payless no longer carries them.

if you think I hate Cros, you should hear what my Podiatrist thinks about them! :o Having said that, my fave slippers are Crocs..but not the normal kind. These are different, and are fur lined. I got them 2 years ago at Dillards.
Mine are a bit different than these, but the main shape is the same..very comfy and DR approved!

I recently saw some "Clarks" houseshoes for men at Penneys. I love Clarks shoes, super comfort. I haven't seen any for women. They were half price, $30.

Hubby searched everywhere, went to the expensive stores, the cheap stores, etc. He found Danskin/Now model WDN Janice at Walmart. I really like them. Non-marking soles, and it seems like the molded footbed fits my foot perfectly, and might even help me stand up straight. The shoes were a Christmas present, and I love them, and him!
