My mammogram last week came up inconclusive and I have to wait until Friday to have an ultrasound or MRI, depending on what the radiologist decides. In the mean time I am a nervous wreck. DH don't even mention it. He has been a sweetheart treating me in a very understanding way, but not saying a word about it. He is one of those guys that feel that if you don't talk about a problem it will go away. I have been sewing up a strom to keep my mind occupied, but can't help to think of the worst. Didn't sleep last night and had to come to work today, but don't feel like being here.

I am sure many here have gone through the same thing. What was your experience?

Mine always come up flukey too. Don't stress yourself out about it. Mine come up that way because of some watery cysts. I could have them removed, but they aren't bothering me, so I don't.
It's easy to say not to worry, but we always do.
Just try to easy your mind that for whatever happens, you'll be fine.

those things aren't always bad news - I had lump, ultrasound (same as you - inconclusive or suspicious, whichever way you want to look at it), finally a biopsy - oh what fun!...
everything negative...
so don't borrow trouble....

You took a great big first step in having a mammogram done - so now, no matter what happens next, you are ahead of the game than if you had done nothing.

Waiting is difficult - don't have any great answers for you though.

Just keep a positive attitude and tr not to think the worst, I know, from experience that it is hard to do.


My DH is the same.

I had a lump a few years ago - went for a mammo then a biopsy - watery cyst! Most of these scares are. Easy to say I know but try not to worry. Your DH is probably scared for you and doesn't know how to verbalise it - he's just being a man! Sending you positive thoughts and hugs!

I have gone through this too and we always seem to think the worst. I know I did. And it's frightening. Mine was a milk cyst 20 years ago and nothing since. But you had the girls examined and that's what's important. Please let us know the outcome.

You have and are doing everything just right....you got the mammogram...you are following up with the radiologist....keeping busy....

It is easy to say not to worry, but as everyone has said, these are usually cysts of some kind. I have called the radiologist and asked to be put on the cancellation list, you can sometimes get in quicker that way :wink:

Some people want to talk about what is bothering them, others can't. I'm glad that you feel comfortable coming here for support!!

I just had my titties in the wringer last week and the gal said something about a foggy picture (dense tissue) and that I may need to get a digital image. Does that mean there is a problem? It is a scary time.

If you get checked regularly, then whatever "it" is hasn't had a lot of time and that's a good thing. If it were really bad, they would have gotten you in immediately - another good sign. DH loves you (even if he isn't a talker) and you got us to talk - all good things.

I'm just starting the same process as you, I found a lump a few weeks ago, and I have an appointment to get it checked on Wed. I'm told it is probably going to be a big long process, and hurrying up and waiting..and of course constantly thinking the worst! Don't loose hope..and please try not to stress over it, you can't do anything about it at the moment, and you certainly can't control it...think positive, then deal with what ever it is when that time comes....:)

Twice I have had a problem the first time the surgeon couldn't feel anything even though it appeared really large on the mamo and the sonogram. So that was that and the second time I had minuscule calcifications that were removed in a needle biopsy. They were not cancerous. These things keep you on your toes and that is a good thing. But don't worry yourself silly. It will probably be a negative test.

When I come up on worrisome times, I practice one of my grandfather's pieces of advice.
Figure out what the worst that can happen will be.
Decide what you are going to do if the worst case scenario comes to be.
Then, relax and let things progress, as they always do.
Anything less than the worst is a good thing and quite manageable.

It sounds rather flip, I suppose, but I know that worrying can be harder on a person than the actual situation. If you can make your decisions while there is still time to control next steps, then when things get all hot and heavy, you KNOW what to do next.
It works ... and, it helps to know that GOD is in control.

Hang in there. My pap smears always came back showing abnormal cells & there was nothing wrong. It probably nothing so we are going to think that & be positive. Chin up, broad shoulders & take it like a strong tough woman that we all are. After all if men had to have babies we wouldn't be here. Lots of prays.

i went thru that last yr. i was scared to death. i had the ultra sound and it was nothing. the gal said it couldve been that i moved slightly when they did the mri. you'll be fine kiddo. chin up. :D
