Two years ago our oldest daughter, Meredith, was diagnosed with MS. Last year (too late) we found out about the MS Bike Ride in Georgia. This year we decided to form a family team to raise awareness and money for MS research. We are committed to finding a cure!!!

That said---I bought a bicycle in the Spring, trained some and then rode 35 miles on Saturday and 25 miles on Sunday!!! It was a very hilly, challenging course. The weather was perfect and we had a great time.

Crossing the finish line on Sunday--
me, my son-in-law, my brother-in-law, my husband, my sister-in-law

What an amazing thing done by your family. We just had a MS bike ride in our community. I know several people that have been diagnosed with MS & hope that a cure is found soon.

I was so shocked that I have not been sore, tired or pained since the ride. I do have to confess, though, that my hubby and I went for massages Saturday afternoon!!

Your causes are wonderful too. It is so great when people can get behind something they believe in and can give it their all. I just wish I could do more---for MS and all other diseases that people suffer from.

BlueChicken 09-17-2009 10:34 PM

Wooooohoooooo!

Way to go! Excellent cause, of course, but excellent effort too! My son wants to start jogging to get fit, and I'm thinking I should dig the bike out and go with him. But I'm really not sure my butt could cope! LOL

Mousie 09-18-2009 06:05 AM

Hey, Blue, K3n, made a 'tush cush', for her mom, and then someone else made some after seeing hers.
Just an idea, to help prevent, 'saddle sores'

Marcia, I bet your daughter is so touched, that the whole family would do this!
I have a good friend with ms, and they really do need to get on with that research. You guys looked great about to cross that finish line. What a long ride...good for you! :D

AtHomeSewing 09-18-2009 07:41 AM

Congratulations! :)

Esqmommy 09-18-2009 07:44 AM

Just awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope a cure is found someday...you are terrific for contributing to the cause.

Shemjo 09-18-2009 11:22 AM

Congratulations for doing more than giving lip service to your cause!

sandpat 09-18-2009 07:04 PM

Way to go Marcia! Thats a lot of riding!!!! They do make those seats mighty small...there are a lot more hills out there now than there used to be too...I noticed that when I pulled the old bike out to ride this past spring. Tell all in your family...great job!

allisonirons 09-18-2009 08:18 PM

Good for you!

Iluv2quilt 09-20-2009 05:48 AM

What a long ride! Good for you! Sorry about your daughter, hopefully they find a cure soon!!

mamaw 09-20-2009 04:27 PM

You deserve to be very proud of yourself and your family for taking the time and energy to do such a terrific thing.
I have a cousin, a cousin's daughter, an aunt, and a dear friend with MS, so the cause is near and dear to my heart.

sewsewquilter 09-20-2009 05:06 PM

Great Job! Hope they find a cure soon.

Bevanger 09-21-2009 05:19 AM
