I am so sick of this cold weather and all this snow. Thank goodness for quilting! It makes for a nice reason to stay inside.

But here's the strange part about it ..... I live in SOUTH Louisiana where until this year we had never had snow more than once in the same winter and even that was rare. In December we had the earliest snowfall ever on record here which broke the previous record by a week and that record had only been from a year ago. Two weeks ago we had the second snow of the season so that is also a new record. And now the weather forecast has winter weather advisories for tonight and we are expecting the third snowfall of the winter.

What is going on? Global cooling? They are blaming it on El Nino. Okay, so our snow is not measured in feet like some of you have, but even an inch is enough to keep this crazy Cajun girl off the road.

You can send it all to me!

BKinCO 02-23-2010 07:49 AM

LOL. It HAS been a crazy winter everywhere it seems! I'll take the cold any day over the heat though.

drivingsusan 02-23-2010 07:52 AM

I really feel bad for you :XD: Here in southern Oregon we are having the mildest winter I can remember
In Jan it was warm and no freezing nights
This month it has even been better....60 - 65 during the day and bright blue skies
But this afternoon it is supposed to rain and there are winter weather advisories all around
But we need the rain and snow for our water for the summer, so I guess it is all good!

wvdek 02-23-2010 07:55 AM

Crazy is not the word. Yesterday and today the fog is so thick we can't see the road at top of driveway. Last nite DH came home from school and said if he didn't know our road like the back of his hand, he would have had an accident the fog was so thick. We have about 10" of snow that has not melted yet. Started to see ground for the first time since Christmas under the pine trees. Were are expecting more snow this week.

Soon enough we will be complaining of the wet and the heat. Never satisfied are we?

Oh, Susan! Let's hope that great weather there holds ~ I JUST booked our summer vacation to go there in August!!!

JRSAY 02-23-2010 07:58 AM

we had more snow at fabric pile in one storm then we would get all season. Even puppies are not happy.
Spring will come, maybe we just will appreciate her more.
warm thoughts to all!!!

Wouldn't it be nice to live in a huge motorhome ; and be able to travel wherever the weather is nice.

That is MY dream
But it would have to be a HUGE motorhome!!!!

Marjpf 02-23-2010 08:47 AM

It is a part of the El Nino phenomenon. It causes more rain and cold in normally dry areas and drought in normally wet areas. Come to southern California. It will be about 80 today. Down sides? Traffic, high cost of living, and September and October are miserably hot.

I found one.... Includes a stripper pole for exercising, a wet bar for when you get thirsty. I am sure the long arm and frame will fit in there somewhere. And the best part it's only costs $1000.00 on Craigslist.

ONLY $1000? That's all?? What a deal!!! It's already all interior designed and all :)

We came 2 summers ago and stayed in Lincoln City....had a GREAT time...this time we're headed to Newport. I cannot wait!

Chasing Hawk 02-23-2010 09:04 AM

Newport is a neat area, we ate at a seafood place there. It was quite good and the view was amazing. I love the coast and the beach.

I just found it marked down to $500.00. lol

BKinCO 02-23-2010 09:09 AM

Oh, well, hell.........if we all pitch in a little we can all use it together. There's room, right?? And I myself am quite fond of the 90s Barney the Dinosaur colors!

Shemjo 02-23-2010 09:33 AM

I am not sure I am ready for THAT RV!
I would miss my stuff too much to live in one that size. I need a Greyhound size with a trailer for my stash, and then a driver, and then, enough cash for fuel, a cook so I can sew when I am wherever and not have to stop for that chore, and then......
Guess I will stay home and enjoy what I DO have.

Lisanne 02-23-2010 09:42 AM

Am I the only one who thought the title was referring to the boobie thread? No joke.

Bobbinwinder 02-23-2010 02:57 PM

I'm wondering if I'm the only one that thought that stripper pole might just be supporting the roof of that "bargain" motorhome?

watterstide 02-23-2010 03:05 PM

swing on up to michigan, and come and get me..we can either go to my sons in San antonio, or my daughters in Hollywood ,florida!

peaceandjoy 02-23-2010 04:51 PM

Your picture of "snow" made me giggle. I thought it was just frost, are you sure that's snow?

Okay, if you aren't used to it, I guess that would count, lol. We've been pretty lucky so far this year. We've had right about our usual, I think in the snowfall derby (between Rochester, Syracuse and Buffalo), we are right on track with about 70". The thing is, we haven't had any really bad storms - just a little day after day after day. Sooo gloomy!

Spring is just around the corner, folks!

That is my dream too! Driving around the country visiting all the quilt shops I can find!!! Wouldn't that be fun!!!

This has been a bad winter for a lot of us. More snow and bad weather than I need.

Does that include a motor?

Yeah, life in the south pretty much sucks lately -- it's been rainy, damp, cool, rainy, gloomy, rainy, dismal, and did I mention rainy? It's so wet all the critters are coming out of the woods looking for dry ground. I have possums on my front doormat and wild hogs digging up my front yard. Today I saw my first snake. But my daffodils and camelias are blooming, so that helps chase away the "gloomies".

Roberta 02-25-2010 11:31 AM

Don't move further south, move further north. Here in Maine we haven't had snow at all. Today it's raining very hard with wind, something that hardly ever happens in central Maine in February.

yorkiemom 02-25-2010 01:02 PM

We've even had snow in Houston!

kdbkelly 02-25-2010 05:10 PM

I agree wholeheartedly! I live in NW Florida and temps are supposed to be in the 20's tonight! What a winter!

It snowed here for about a half hour a couple of weeks ago, but it didn't stick. More very low temps that usual - I'm ready for warm weather!

Love traveling in our motorhome.
