Not exactly quilt related, but....

I had plans for a cutting table or other sewing related item. HOWEVER; today I got a message about a piano that an area church was giving away for FREE! It is a Baldwin 243 and is in AMAZING shape! Barely ever played!

Long story short, I won't have room for that cutting table now!

Oh, I have been looking for an affordable, decent piano for almost three years! This find has made my day!

Some things are just meant to be. What a beautiful piano. Enjoy it!

Pretty piano! Get a foldable table you can tuck behind the piano and pull it out when you need it.

When I moved, I had to downsize and gave my Dad's antique player piano and all the rolls to my best friend. ENJOY !!!

FREE...............shame on you for stealing that piano & from a church no less !!! LOL
What a fantastic looking piano & you made off like a bandit. Congratulations to you for saving this gorgeous piano from "who knows what". She's a beauty. You are sooooooooo lucky.

That is a beauty of a piano. I sometimes miss my piano. Do have a keyboard & don't play it, it is not the same.

Michellesews 11-10-2014 07:48 AM

Gorgeous! There is always the kitchen table 😄

beadywoman 11-10-2014 08:51 AM

That piano is beautiful! You will surely enjoy playing it.

Beautiful!!

A solution here......

A sheet of plywood, few screws and some hinges will easily convert your piano into a cutting table when not in use.....LOL

What a beautiful piano. You are very blessed to have received this one. It's been many years since I last played
a piano and not sure how well I could still do it, but I spent many hours enjoying it. Congratulations....much better than a cutting table!!!

You are absolutely correct, it is not the same! The fiance tried to talk me into getting a keyboard a while back and I was thinking No Way Jose! This piano has great tone quality. I am so lucky to have found it!

Lovely piano! I also have a Baldwin. We bought it about thirty years ago.

This brings back sweet memories. When I was growing up (late 50s and 60s), in my country town in Texas, all my friends and I had pianos. We all took lessons, and when we got together, we played the piano---duets, improvised songs, hymns, etc. It was so much fun. A very few of the boys took lessons, although many of their mothers had pianos.

And in church, we would read the music and sing the harmony parts. It's a shame that so many churches have done away with hymnals.

My three grandsons have a piano and take lessons (my sweet DIL was a music major), but my three grand-daughters do not have a piano.

I'm a little sad that so fewer homes have pianos these days. Glad you have gotten one for your home, even if it makes a cutting board difficult to manage now.

congratulation enjoy to the fullest, the folding cutting table will work.

DebbieJJ 11-11-2014 06:27 AM

Enjoy your newest toy.....I still enjoy my piano, even though I bought it over 38 yrs. ago. Our church is one of the few that still uses the hymnals, and I am the organist. I don't play by ear, so if we were to go to the praise songs, I'm sure I'd have to step down.

nuffsaid 11-11-2014 06:30 AM

Good choice! To me, a piano is as important as my quilting. I hope you have many, many hours of joy as you play.

vondae 11-13-2014 02:32 PM

It is beautiful and I would have made the same decision. What a blessing!!! I wish I could find someone who wanted to give a piano away. I to have been wanting one for many years.

gramquilter2 11-13-2014 04:34 PM

Beautiful piano have fun with it.

mjhaess 11-15-2014 07:54 AM

Nice...and free...You could not pass that up...

tessagin 11-15-2014 08:01 AM

My thoughts exactly! Get a folding card table piece of plywood same size, there you go.
