cyclists who don't wear helmets? Most ER folks refer to them as "organ donors".

Yeah, Ohio doesn't have helmet laws and I saw some nasty stuff in the hospital :(

I taught my daughter that the car won't move (by me) without seatbelts on. She is 23.5 and I doubt she has ever driven or been a passenger without being buckled up. So glad she stuck with it.

Everyone wears them in my family. If they refuse then they can get out. If they take it off while I'm driving then little man makes sure I know about it. LOL!!

When I was growig up, no one wore seatbelts, so, as I got older, I didn't really think that much about it. Sometimes I put it on and other times I didn't. When I got pregnant with my first son, which was before seatbelt laws, it dawned on me that it wasn't just my life anymore. I started buckling up every single time. I taught both of my sons to always buckle up ("or we're not going anywhere").

They are both grown now and they make everyone who gets in the car with them buckle up, too. My younger son had a hard time getting his fiance (now wife) to buckle up, but she has finally started doing it, too. He would refuse to put the vehicle in gear until she was buckled up. He even had me "fuss" at her. I told her that she is now my daughter and my kids wear seatbelts. I also told her that I love her and I don't want to lose her.

My mother hates them, but will wear them. My father doesn't like to wear and usually doesn't...unless he is in the car with me. He fusses, but he puts it on!

I wear my seat belt all the time, and taught both of our sons to always wear theirs. I did though grow up in a family of 4 kids that took vacations in a station wagon, and we never wore seatbelts...did cars even have them 50 years ago??? I do though feel safer wearing one and always buckle up as soon as I get in my car and have even buckled up when just getting into my car to move car into the garage...that is how much of a habit it is now.

Yesterday I stopped in at a fast food rest. to use the facilities then in the same parking lot, but at the other end, I drove over to a Bath and Body I purposely thought "i'm not putting on my seat belt!" I was nervous and uncomfortable! And it was a 45 second drive!

I can say I was saved by wearing a seat belt.

The impact of the accident was so severe, the inside of my knees were bruised from banging together, and I had a bruise on my right hip from where the belt buckle was. Without it, I'm sure my head would have been through the windshield. At this point I barely even think about wearing it, it's more of an unconscious habit. I'm glad to see so many of y'alls kids are so vigilant about wearing them as well. Be safe, everyone!
