My husband's side of the family never did much geneology, but thankfully my father's cousin and her mother did it at every opportunity...and we are blessed with history going back to before the American Revolution...to England, etc. Lots of DAR chicks. |
I lived in OKC for almost 5 years and there is so much to do. Here is a link that might help...especially since the ages are widespread. http://okc.about.com/od/attractionsa...thingstodo.htm
Also, T-Shirts are always a hit. You might even want to help them make a t-shirt for you or your DH with their hand prints on them...my DH loves the two he has. Then you write their names and ages near their prints. I just know whatever is chosen...you will all have fun and take away great memories :) :) ENJOY!!! |

Did one thing at Holidays once the family still teases me about. I used different color yarn (LOTS of yarn) for each family member. When they walked in the front door....they were immediately confronted with a maze of yarn running thru entire household. It was mixed with everyone else's color yarn. It took forever to do....and there were notes tied onto the yarn, hints and silly things too. They took about ten minutes or longer searching for the ends of their personal string/yarn. And at the ends were hidden their gifts (wrapped...so they still had to wait till after we had our meal etc.) I did it once, it was a big job... But it was worth it. This was way, way before these DGC were born. I'd forgotten all about that. Maybe it would be a good thing to do again...and let 'em help! Was about twelve people's gifts before..and just me doing the yarn. If they did it too...we'd get 'er done in no time! Peasporridge hot Hopscotch--I used blue painting tape and put down a hopscotch on my tile floor inside. I also use masking tape to put down a maze on my floor. The older kids like this. I use tape and put down a board on the floor. I lay tape in a square shape or a squiggle shape and then put small pieces of tape with color on them(crayon or marker) at intervals and this is then played like Sorry or Parcheesi or Monopoly etc. Call out numbers of steps to take or they have to go back 4 paces or they have to find the second yellow mark etc. ` |

I am impressed, impressed, impressed! Have lots of the materials you mention. This is an awesome resource. All the links, etc. You don't know how much I appreciate this help...thank you for taking the time to write all this. You really worked! Wish I had been a kid in your class...it obviously was/is VERY kid friendly! I like using MUSIC too, because helps their brains prepare to read, and for math, list goes on and on.
