Ideas!

My 25 year old Granddaughter is coming for Christmas eve and bringing her 28 year old boyfriend. What would you suggest a gift for him. I can't think of a thing.

Kitsie 12-16-2013 09:54 AM

Ask her? Have a Merry Christmas!

Neesie 12-16-2013 10:04 AM

Guys that age are fairly easy to please. Food is always good, as in cookies or mixed nuts. Since he's just of 'boyfriend' status, I wouldn't go overboard (not yet, anyway ;)).

Monroe 12-16-2013 10:04 AM

Restaurant gift card or movie passes for them?

Kimkankwilt 12-16-2013 10:22 AM

Soap-on-a-rope.

I like the restaurant or movie gift cards. There's also gas cards. Sheetz cards he can get gas or anything in the store. My son is 25 and is always self conscious about personal gifts from in-laws and such.

leatheflea 12-16-2013 02:23 PM

My boys are in their 20's and they love anything. Making them a big ole batch of deer jerky this week. My sons like tools, pocket knives, winter hats and gloves are also great for guys. Not just any ole glove but you know those fancy ones that you can get at Lowes, about $10-$15 a pair. I gave my son a pair last year and he said it was the best pair of gloves he ever had, nice and warm. Hope you find some good ideas!

lynnie 12-16-2013 02:46 PM

I vote for cookies, jerky, white trash, candy, nuts ect

Tiggersmom 12-16-2013 03:11 PM

lynnie please explain what your version of "white trash" is!!!!!!!!

nygal 12-16-2013 03:27 PM

A gift card to Amazon.com is always a good gift.

I know I've seen a recipe for it, but it still sounds funny! :D

IrishNY 12-16-2013 03:45 PM

I agree with the Amazon gift certificate, or a Starbucks Certificate.

suebee 12-16-2013 05:02 PM

How about a Starbucks Card?

nativetexan 12-16-2013 05:04 PM

no nuts if he may be allergic. A nice plate of covered cookies (sans nuts) would be a nice gesture.

GG 12-17-2013 04:04 AM

items to wash cars with are also good ideas

Jingle 12-17-2013 05:03 AM

I get my Grandsons gift cards. This year a college GS wants Steak & Shake cards, so he won't have to cook so much. Another wants ITune card. I think maybe I will get another a gas card. All but one are old enough to work and they do. The cards just help them spread their money a little further.
Ask you Daughter what he might like.

mighty 12-17-2013 06:22 AM

I would ask her or go with a gift card.

dd 12-17-2013 06:51 AM

I only have one word for "white trash" - Addictive!lol

moonwork42029 12-17-2013 06:56 AM

New boyfriend, my granddaughter? MMMM his best gift would be to survive my "grilling" and not being met with a shotgun by the door...just so there'd be no misunderstandings :) of his intentions :).

Give him a hand made scarf...just to test his integrity of handling something like that. Then, if you like the way he acted you could give him a "real" gift card along with a hug. If not, the turkey can just wear the scarf.

Oh, can you tell, we're a little protective here

This comment reminded me of Christmas with my dad. Every year my Grandma would buy him soap on a rope, and every year he would comment "I guess I still stink as a son-in -law". It always made us laugh. Thanks, I needed that smile this morning. It made me think of dad (who is gone now) and reminded me how much he liked the smell of Old Spice.

Here's Alton Brown's recipe.

3 1/2 cups Cheerios toasted oat cereal
3 cups Rice Chex
3 cups Corn Chex
16 ounces M&M's plain chocolate candy
2 1/2 cups salted mixed nuts
2 cups small pretzels
2 (11 ounce) packages white chocolate chips (Ghirardelli brand preferred)
Directions:
1Dump the cereals, M&Ms, nuts & pretzels in a large bowl.
2Melt the white chocolate in the microwave or in a double boiler. Melt very slowly, stirring occasionally, being careful not to burn the chocolate.
3Dump melted chocolate over the rest of the ingredients and fold over and over until you have well-coated hunks and chunks.
4Spread the whole mess out on parchment paper and set in a cool place until it sets up, then break it into pieces.
5Store in zip-top bags or air-tight containers.

All I know is that white trash is addictive and my daughter has made it with regular chocolate and its YUMMY !! Too

Pillow cases are good for any age. Young & old alike. I have made them for all ages & every one of them loved as I used fabric in the theme they liked.

caspharm 12-17-2013 01:05 PM

I agree with a gift card, just check with your daughter about what kind? Gas, Starbucks, books? How about an Amazon gift card?

granny64 12-17-2013 01:09 PM

If he has an iphone, give him an itunes gift card.

I had the same dilemma and my 25 year old son said "you can always use a wallet" I thought that was a great idea.
