If the new QB is visually hard for you, here may be an answer....

I know that my hubby is bothered by certain colors, and that there are others here on the board, who have a hard time with the white background, as opposed to the tan we used to have. So, I played.

If you have Internet Explorer 8 as I do, you should be able to make some adjustments. If you have another internet connection, or a different version, hopefully this will at least point you in the right direction.

Anyway, here is how you can change the color to tan:

To specify website fonts and colors
1. Click to open Internet Explorer.
2. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
3. Click the General tab, and then do one or both of the following:
o To change the font, click Fonts. Specify the fonts you want to use, and then click OK.
o To change colors, click Colors, and then clear the Use Windows colors check box. Click each color box, click the color you want to switch to, and then click OK. When you're done choosing colors, click OK.
4. Click OK.

To override website font and color settings
5. Click to open Internet Explorer.
6. Click the Tools button, and then click Internet Options.
7. Click the General tab, and then click Accessibility.
8. Select the Ignore colors specified on webpages, Ignore font styles specified on webpages, and Ignore font sizes specified on webpages check boxes, click OK, and then click OK again.

When I did this, I clicked on the box for Background (step 4 above), it will open another window where you can select from a bunch of colors. If you click on Define Custom Colors, you will be able to tweak it to what you want.

A quick play I set the boxes on the bottom right to what is shown here to get the color you can now see in the background of my pic. It seems pretty close to the old QB color.

The settings were: 33, 158, 196 on the left, top to bottom and 239, 228, 177 on the right.

Then, because we are all (notice I said WE) getting older, some of our eyes don't work too well with tiny font either. So, I adjusted that too in Accessibility.

See the pics attached for examples what I mean. I hope this helps.

Using Mozilla Firefox you 'click' Tools then Content for Fon and color! Super!! Remember to uncheck "let programs decide own colors". I'm now a soft Aqua background and lightened my "read/unread" colors. Thank you!!

This will help a lot of people, maybe it explains why my screen is not bright white like people have been discussing.

I got this to work for background color. However, I couldn't get a tan at all with the custom colors; best I could do was a gray. Also, when I changed it to gray, then I lost all the envelopes (and I think the green arrows). Will have to experiment some more.

I *think* that yesterday, when I customized the My Profile page and changed the font to medium, that today somehow the board implemented that change on the posts. At least, the font seems a lot bigger and darker to me today than it did yesterday. If it did implement font, it did not implement the background color for the posts (but may have implemented the color I choose as the sidebars to the posting page).

sigh..... Guess it will just take some time and experimentation to get everything right for me.....

Kitsie, my Firefox doesn't have Content for an option when I click on Tools. Am I missing something?

Thanks

It works with your internet tools, but it also changes the background on all your pages...

I'm posting again to see how I can 'subscribe' to this thread, to get notices when new posts have been added. Is that something we can still do?

Look toward the top of the thread for "Thread Tools." Click on that and then click on "Subscribe to this Thread."
