God I love it here we are a big city with a small town additude we have beautiful weather and in San Diego county there s something for everybody beaches, mountains, deserts, small communities and big cities. We have a variety of nationalities and ways to live. I love that I can be in the desert for breakfast, the mountains or lunch and the beach in time for a walk on the shore and dinner at sunset.

I hate the cost of living and the price of housing, cars and goods. I hate how high our taxes, proprty tax, sales tax state tax it's all kind of crazy high. Most of all I hate that it is not small business friendly while the communities love and support them the cost of doing and starting a business here is very high a new business owner here as to have a larger financial backing here to get through those lean beginnings than in other places.

I've been here several times years ago and loved it.

I live in Escondido, north San Diego county. We're out by the Safari Park (Wild Animal Park - they recently changed the name) so it's more 'country' and traffic isn't as bad. LOVES - the variety of things to do all over San Diego county. There is always SOMETHING going on. The weather, of course. Rosie's Calico Cupboard Quilt Shop-you have no idea...fabulous! The only thing I can think of that I don't like is the traffic. I've only ever lived in California, so I don't miss seasons. It's a great place to live.

I live in Chula Vista which is just about 5 miles south of San Diego - 7 miles north of Mexico. We love it here because of the weather. We live near down town because I like to be able to walk to the store, library and to get a bite to eat. Also, I am a mile from my doctor's office. We have a small house which we bought in 1989, so our property taxes are lower because of Prop. 13. I describe San Diego as an over-grown hick town. But SD is going to grow more if they become an Olympics venue. I do believe growth is good - many I know will disagree. But we like having the San Diego Padres - we love going to the games and we are big Charger fans, and we have San Diego State for basketball.

We have raised our daughters and they do not intend to leave the area. It is expensive to live here but then every large city is. We are from the Seattle area and their property taxes are higher than ours, their sales tax in King County is higher than ours - so it depends where you come from whether you think it is more expensive.

You are close to Los Angeles and Orange County if you like what they have to offer without having to live there. Our weather is much more moderate, unless you live out east in the Escondido or El Cajon area, then I believe you need an air conditioner to survive the summer.

You don't have to deal with snow, but if you like it, then you just drive to it. We don't get much rain and as you know California is currently dealing with a drought, so lawns are not very pretty right now in many areas.

The beaches are beautiful - have you seen the Hotel del Coronado and the surrounding beaches? I am not wild about the Children's Beach in La Jolla - because of the seals and the smell, but Scripps Aquarium is wonderful and head north to Del Mar, Cardiff, Solana Beach, etc.

And fabric stores - there are quite a few. I won't list them here - they are easy to find.

I lived there 33 yrs. before moving here to GA 13 yrs. ago. Still have my house there, cannot let go of my piece of the sun! Fabulous city, growing too big though and lots of traffic. So proud of California in general - they are so progressive and very ethnic-friendly. There have been some sad eye-openers here in the South.

Michelle, I grew up in Escondido graduated from San Pasqual I lived off Felicia great place to grow up. And your right traffic is horrifying the I-15 corridor is some of the worst!

Weather is perfect but traffic is awful and that was years ago. Cant imagine what it is like now.
Love the Ventura area much better.

There is nothing not to like except everyone else likes it here too. It is getting way to crowded.
