If your machine will not sew ...
I had a BIG problem this afternoon, I had received a beautiful top for Moms day it was too long for me, so I thought I will shorten it by 3 inches and it is will be fine. So I purchased ball point needles for Jersey knits. This top was 94% Poly and 6% Spandex. My Bernina 153 would not sew a stitch on this fabric.. 45 minutes after retreading rewinding bobbin, changing out for another ball pint needle ...still not a stitch.. Light bulb came on and I put a strip of tissue paper on top of fabric and it stitched like a dream. I do not know why ..but just wanted to share that it worked in case anyone else needed to know this. After finishing I took a dip in the pool, water temp was like bath water 90 degrees.. I am all relaxed now. :)

I'll trade BIG problems with you?! LOL! Just kidding, thanks for the tip, wish I had a pool, I'd be in it a LOT, love swimming!

Good tip - thank you.

I had lost some weight and my favorite fancy dress needed a bit of altering. The feed dogs would not carry the satiny fabric through. I got a roll of tissue and set in in my lap to reel out as I stitched. Slippery fabric is no longer a pain to work with. I made valances for a pair of 1/2 circle windows from sheer curtains using tissue.

Thanks for this tip, I would never have thought of it.

The problem is, I remember all these tips when someone mentions them. I don't remember them when I need them. And the pool.lol Thanks for the tip.

Ahhh, it's moments like this that bring home the fact that I'm a quilter, not a seamstress. When I first read this, I thought you got a QUILT top for Mother's Day, and thenI thought that was kind of rude, giving you a half made present. Nevermind, I get it now.

If your machine has a Teflon foot, you won't need tissue paper x
