Incredible Waves Near My Place

This is Lake Erie, just down from my place. In the Summer, we lie on the beach, swim and sail on this lake, but in the Fall, the lake gets wild. It's amazing, the difference there is between the Summer lake and the Fall lake. Here are some pictures from a local photographer that you might enjoy. Scroll down to see them.

Wow! Those waves are incredible. Thanks for sharing. I'm used to rough water on the Oregon coast but it's nothing like that.

Those are scary, beautiful, but definitely something to stay away from!

Good grief, I've never seen waves like that on any of the lakes we have around here! I've heard the Great Lakes waves can get pretty treacherous but have never seen pictures of them. This was quite an eye-opener for me.

Watson, these are beautiful and thank you for sharing them. Have you ever actually seen waves like this on the lake? I would love to see this.
peace

thanks for sharing! My cousin lived near Lake Erie and spoke of the waves and he could only describe them as absolutely mesmerizing!!

Scary but yet gorgeous.

I too live near Lake Erie, near Long Point. This photographer's work has been featured prominently recently on line and it's nice to see our lake in all it's magnificence on line for everyone to see and appreciate. He does an incredible job of capturing it's wildness and it's beauty. It is awesome, and I've seen some of these waves! Thanks for posting.

SCARY! Now I better understand some of the lyrics in the song, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald".

They are breathtaking! We've stayed on Lake Superior, on the Minnesota North Shore, and saw some awesome waves come crashing in.

Thanks for sharing - those are awesome!

Mariposa 05-01-2017 07:09 PM

Wow! Those pictures are fantastic! But I wouldn't want to have to see those waves close up and in person-! Yikes!!

Breathtakingly beautiful and scary at the same time!

Awesome photos! Thanks for sharing. :-) We used to go in the summer to visit my grandparents at a cottage they rented. It was on a cliff and it was a steep climb down to the water. We spent many hours there, and as I remember it was a cove, so not many waves. These photos are just awe inspiring.

annette1952 05-02-2017 05:54 AM

Wow! The pics are amazing! Thanks for sharing.

Unbelievable photos. Beautiful but scary. Thank you for sharing. Also love the sunset behind the waves.

JanieH 05-02-2017 10:08 AM

Those are spectacular! They make me want to come in October/November and find a place where I can watch them. Preferably through a window curled up by a fire with my cats and some quilting. LOL

This song is exactly what came to my mind when I viewed those photos. Beautiful photo shots of very angry water! The photographer really capture the reality of it.

Thanks so much for sharing these great pictures! We have camped by Lake Erie a few times, but when it was much calmer!

Kimkankwilt 05-02-2017 05:04 PM

Crazy scary!!

ctrysass2012 05-02-2017 08:25 PM

Born & raised in SW Mich. Saw some amazing waves on the pier in Holland. Have a picture a friend took in the winter with the pier & lighthouse coated in layers of ice. Mother Nature is amazing!

Me, too! I also followed the link in the article to the photographer's website. It's worth the "trip" for the photo on the home page alone. :D

Yooper32 05-03-2017 08:22 AM

These pictures are just downright awesome! I have seen some dandies on Lake Superior, but not this "downright in your face" personal.

llong0233 05-03-2017 03:17 PM

Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos. Lake Erie is very interesting and this is part of the reason. What fun he must have had getting these shots...

Beautiful photography. My DH claims he is seasick from looking at them.

kaylfordsollimo 05-08-2017 03:59 PM

Those waves look like the ocean when it is heaving! Wow!!!
