There are so many beautiful pictures here, it made me wonder what type/brand of cameras folks are using. Since I have an old manual Minolta (25 yrs old), yes with actual film - lol! - it's time I get 'with it' and inquire. What features to look for, since I'm totally ignorant on this topic, I'm guessing there's things that are important, but I haven't the faintest idea what those might be. Are all digital cameras similar, do they cost a small fortune, what do you like/dislike about the one you're using. Thankyou in advance, I know you'll save me a ton of research!

I have a Kodak digital that my kids got me about 5 years ago and it is wearing out. So for Christmas they got me a Panasonic Lumix. It even takes videos and has 10x zoom. I told my daughter I wanted one for "dummies". I love it.

I use a Sony Cyber-Shot. I believe the model I have is under $150 and is fairly simple to use. I love it. I had a Fugifilm digital camera before the sony and I hated it. Good luck finding one that suits you and can't wait to see pics!

I got mine (Vivicam) at Walmart a couple of years ago for $80. Works good.

I use a fujifilm camera with a 10x optical zoom plus an additional digital zoom, this is my second fujifil camera and I like it a lot. It has internal memory as well as a card slot for additional memory - which you will need. You will either have to get a card reader or make sure that your camera comes with a USB cord so that you can download your pictures onto your computer (if it doesn't have a card reader slot all ready in it). Mine cost approx. $300.00 including tax in 2008 on sale. Just remember to keep out of reach of furbabies, mine got dropped to many times and had to get it repaired. This almost cost as much as a new one but I like it. You need to find one that has a hight# for the optical zoom and also a high# for pixels. These mean that you will get a clearer picture. Also try to find one that has macro for close up shots. this way you can do a close up shot and it also be clear and not fuzzy. Check out ebay or wolf camera for special deals. Used to have a Fuji Fine Pix and loved it. Now have a Kodak that we bought from their website. It was refurbished and came with a new warranty. It is awesome. So in the future, we will look at refurbished again.

I purchased a Nikon at Target. My criteria was I wanted a camera that used regular batteries so I could purchase them anywhere I was. Not all places have those small, flat batteries. Love it and was only about $100.00.

I have a Nikon and I love it. I had a Nikon Cool Pix earlier, a very tiny size one and while it was handy it didn"T have a zoom lens and I really needed that for taking pictures of grandkids playing sports., plus it was so small my old arthritic hands started having problems holding it. Look for one that is held comfortably in your hands, get the highest Mega pixals you can afford and the biggest zoom , plus macro. One that has a USB cord to transfer your pics to the PC, and a rechargeable battery. Oh, mine also will let me take short videos.I think most digital cameras do pretty much the same, cost can vary a lot. but you want to check to see if a can be repaired also if that is needed. My best advice, go to a camera dealer, at a camera store and look at different brands and try them, and have them explained to you.

I have a Panasonic Lumix, very very easy camera, takes good pics. DH bought a fancy Nikon digital SLR, and has been spending HOURS on the computer, doing tutorials to learn how to use it. hmmmm
