International Shipping

Does anybody perhaps know of any on line fabric sellers who are prepared to ship internationally without extra charges?
Thanks for any help.

it seems unlikely - perhaps there are sellers in your country you could buy from? Shipping overseas is so expensive.

What do you mean by 'extra charges'?

Biffy 08-21-2012 09:32 AM

Well, often there are special offers of free shipping in the USA but very seldom do you see free shipping for international customers. It would be nice if a deduction equal to local shipping could be made for international customers in these cases.

There is not a very large market for quilting fabric in South Africa and because it is so specialised, sellers charge astronomical amounts. Even with the very expensive shipping charges it is better to buy from the suppliers in the USA rather than support the local shops.

We ship internationally all the time. We charge $17.95 for a flat-rate envelope sent by USPS Priority Mail International. Please bear in mind that it costs us $16.95 to send it - that's what USPS charges - and the extra $1 is for insurance. Were we to ship by UPS or FedEx it would cost even more.

I believe that the cost factor is why you are not going to find free international shipping. Also, international shipping is more time-consuming for the business. We have found that we spend a LOT more time answering customer inquiries on international orders than we do for US shipments (Where's the package? Why isn't it here yet? Why can't I track it?) Though we do have the answer to most of those questions already posted on our website (http://www.favoritefabric.com/intern..._shipping.html ) ... that doesn't necessarily mean that our customers have read it, and it seems kind of unfriendly to answer the e-mails by saying "please read our website". So we spend the time to answer all the questions individually. And that takes time!

I've seen on-line stores that have free or reduced shipping specials toUS customers give $5. (or some amount) off for International customers. Can't remember where, but have seen it frequently in shop newsletters.

Hancocks of Paducah have free shipping from time to time (even international) sign up for their newsletter and they will email you the code you need when they have the offer. They have a minimum spend but it is still worth it.
