Been there done that with 3 of them. Chill out it won't last long and agree with each other that "whatever happens in the car, stays in the car". It will make for great stories later.
I can help with 3 of those....all out of sanity!
ohhhh it only gets better the older they get! grin & bear it!
I totally understand! Went thru that a few years back myself. Twin boys will be 16 next year....may need to buy stock in Valium for that!
I am very proud of her. She is pretty responsible. Her last semester grades were 3.82! But she is my baby and I am going to miss her when she is all growed up. And I dont want her to get hurt.
You'll be just fine.
It's hard to watch the kids grow up. I still find myself thinking I am a certain age and then remember that my kids are only two years younger than that! |
Probably much harder on you and Dad than it is on her. Never easy to let them grow up. Chocolate may help the jitters. ?. LOL.

Hey FURZA,
I feel Your pain. Joe is 16 1/2 and we have told him that He is not mature enough . Each time He has a little hissy fit I mention that He needs to rid himself from that behavior before We will ever let Him get behind the wheel. We def. will hold strong and firm on that. He would not be a very safe driver right now. He has experienced some awful things in his life but He still is so immature in so many ways. Most Kids Joe's age will do a lot better. |
I feel your pain and terror! Our youngest will be 16 in September and wants to do the same. I will cry like a baby the first time she drives off by herself.
Awww been there and did that 3 times... you and DH will survive  :D:D:D
Hang in there.
Don't worry, just sit beside her eating your Tums.
Then invest in driving lessons; they're worth every penny, especially if you can find a school that includes emergency driving. (But don't watch) |
Mine learned to drive a long, long time ago, but if it was today, my first rule would be==CELL PHONE IN THE BACK FLOOR AT ALL TIMES. If you are ever seen by any of us or friends texting and driving, your car/my car will be parked for a month and you will walk or take the bus for that month.
I had volunteered for a long time in Emergency at our hospital and seen the bodies of barely alive young people being pushed past me to ER with doctors and nurses running.... A lot of our rules were more or less negotiable but driving ones were set in cement. And anyone else driving our cars would be the same, unless you were in the back seat bleeding and on the way to the hospital. All had some sort of medical training, even the school teacher met her husband in EMT classes. CARS CAN KILL. |
Been there! Take a deep breath! Say a lot of prayers!
Sending, sending (laughter). Congratulations on raising a responsible young person moving as planned into young adulthood. All will be well.
My advice is - get your car body shop on the speed dial!!! No joke, our son had more fender benders (most were not his fault). Did you know that most accidents happen in parking lots??? We laugh about it now but at the time it wasn't so funny...
Scarry times for parents when they learn to drive. I was always happy to see them when they came home.
It's not as bad as think it's going to be.
I have lived through it five times and next year will be my last one. But he is going to be the easiest because he already knows how to drive he only needs to learn the "rules" of the road. Vicky |

BTW, you may want to yank the radio out of whatever car she will be driving in the future....oldest son managed to wipe out 5 parked cars while tuning in a station on the radio. |
Well, I have another 90 days before I will have to ask again. She didnt pass her written test. :( So we will revisit this in 3 months. Thanks for all the suggestions. HUGS!

It is just one of the trials of growing up. I think I lost more sleep over that one than any. She did a great job. She is now 38, her daughter is now 15 so we will she how she handles it in the coming year........
