I was just looking at my info and I noticed that my one year anniversary was yesterday. Its hard to believe that I have been here that long it seems like I just joined in not too long ago. I know that I have made lots of great friends and learned so much about quilting here. This is hands down one of the best places to come for information on quilting and if you ever run into an issue then there are lots of folks willing to help you out!

Thanks for the wonderful site and for having me here!!

Billy

Congrats Billy...doesn't the time fly!! We are learning from you as well. I'm sure we would be lost with out your expertise.

mom-6 10-12-2010 05:38 PM

Thank you for being willing to share all your wonderful information and knowledge of vintage machines with us!

dsb38327 10-12-2010 05:38 PM

I have enjoyed it too. Your anniversary is on my birthday. You have educated many of us on the vintage machines and many other things. Your quilting is excellent and seems to be no challenge at all for you. Not to mentioon your custom painting. You have brought much to the board and I for one have enjoyed it very much. Happy Anniversary.

Lostn51 10-12-2010 05:44 PM

Trust me my quilting is always a challenge for me. I guess I am just lucky I havent messed anything up so bad that it sticks out like a sore thumb!

But I am glad that I can give back something even though I am far from an expert on anything. I am looking forward to many more years on here and all of the wonderful quilts and machines that you guys bring to the table!!

Billy

Time does fly doesn't it! For me and many other lovers of all things vintage you have been a really valuable presence on this board...especially with your wealth of knowledge on repairs and restoration and your willingness to share. It's been great "watching" you transform the machines. Particularly the "hot rod" finishes for the ones beyond standard restoration. It's also great to see quilts that are made by males...it gives us a different way of looking at design and fabric.

So thank you, for helping keep vintage alive and being a bloke who can tell a really good yarn (your story about your neighbour cracked me up!). Over the next few days I will be immersing myself in the vintage threads so I can learn more about and restore my new acquisition...Yep I finally found a treadle! My gorgeous Singer 1912.

So keep on treadling and posting!

Congratulations on the machine!!!! You need to post some pics on the Vintage thread if you havent already and let us all enjoy your find!! Once you get used to your treadle you will end up picking it over your regular machine. Nothing beats a treadle!!!

I for one, am celebrating your anniversary!! :D

Ida 10-14-2010 01:01 PM

Hi, Billy. Happy Anniversary! I have so enjoyed seeing the old cars. Takes me back quite a few! I will be 70 in March, and during my youth (LOL) I drove in NHRA. We had a great time. Also ran clocks at races, and would drive for five hours after work to get to race the weekend, then after no sleep, go to work on Monday. WOW, couldn't even come close to doing that now. My first hubby made me quit!

So, Billy, keep up the great help and taking me down memory lane!

That is really sweet!!! So you were around when they were running at airstrips and what not. That was back when they were traveling around the country promoting Drag Racing. The birth of Hot Rodding!

Lucky you!!!

Billy

Happy Anniversary, Billy. I have learned more than I thought I needed to know! Keep the info coming!

sew wishful 10-14-2010 04:20 PM

Hey...only a year?? I'm such a newbie, I thought you'd been here years! Congrats on the one year mark and may I add my thanks to you for your expertise on vintage machines...now I not only own a Featherweight, but also a treadle (just acquired so can't even give you any info on it..except it's a Singer), and old, old Black Kenmore in a box (box is ratty, but I think fixable), and my daughter has an old black New Home (I think) she was given and is giving it to me! Wish I had time to go through them all...perhaps in a month or so when it's too cold out to do anything outside. I wouldn't have needed all these old things if I hadn't picked up on everyone's acquisitions and your instructions on how to clean them up, your supply of parts, etc.
Thanks for allowing us to join in your hobby and for all your help! (Not giving my age away here, but I love the walk down memory lane with the cars, too!!) LOL!
