It is 7:03 AM CST, the ground is covered with snow. The snowflakes are huge. The trees are covered, there are leaves on some of the Pin Oaks yet and the snow is weighing them down. The wind is blowing from the North. It is 33.1* out. You just wouldn't believe that we hit a high temperature for November 11-- +68*. And now it is snowing hard! Gotta admit it's beautiful, for another 1/2 hour! Then I am ready for Spring! Happy Wintertime! Edie

dakotamaid 11-13-2010 05:16 AM

DesMoines gets it today, up to 5 inches, boy we have been so spoiled with this late nice fall. Has definitely helped our moving.

erstan947 11-13-2010 05:50 AM

Well, get use to it. Winter has only just begun!

pojo 11-13-2010 05:56 AM

Please keep it.
I don't want it I like our weather right now in the 60's.

I live off of Lake Erie and I know it is comming and dreading it already.

DebbyT 11-13-2010 05:56 AM

I am in Mich. It is on the way. I need to get the hoses put away and get a warmer for the water in the chicken coop at the farm. I know to expect this every year, but I am so not ready for it. I guess I can delegate the task to my son who lives there.

dsb38327 11-13-2010 05:59 AM

I have lived in 'your kind of weather'. It is all so beautiful when it first snows. You live a different way of life than people do where it doesn't snow know like that. You don't realize how much of a 'survivor' you are until you live where it does not snow so much. I am glad you have the beauty to enjoy and I am sorry it has to be so cold and messy other times. I am seeing the glass half full. I would love to enjoy one more blizzard. Inside, looking out. I always enjoyed them so much because we knew precisely when they were coming and could button down until they were gone and the plows came. Such a different way of life. Enjoy the beauty.

sueisallaboutquilts 11-13-2010 06:05 AM

amandasgramma 11-13-2010 07:43 AM

LOVE it!!! our snow is melting!!! We're now supposed to have unseasonably warm weather!!!! Oh, how I want 3 feet of snow!

Shemjo 11-13-2010 07:47 AM

I remember what it was like when the first snow fell every year in MN and WI! We always had a "snow pool" for the first measurable snow! What fun! But I do enjoy not having to shovel winter! Now that I am retired, let it snow!

kylenstevesmom 11-13-2010 07:50 AM

I DO NOT want it to snow anytime soon...

I just started driving a school bus and it's one of the HUGE ones... I'm not looking forward to driving in the stuff!!!

I live at Lake Ontario, and we either miss it or get totally blasted!

dream56 11-13-2010 09:21 AM

Why is it that most of us who live in the snow areas - Hate snow? I know I do. It's ok on the ground, just hate driving in it.

Yes I hate snow. I have no ties to anywhere warm. I delivered mail for 33 years. Retired a year ago and now I just hibernate. If I don't have to go out I don't. Plenty of projects lined up, and food in the pantry.

amma 11-13-2010 12:00 PM

I love the first snowfall of the year :D:D:D

joyceelaine1951 11-13-2010 04:47 PM

It was 72* here today, the most snow we have gotten in 9 years was 7inches and it was gone in 3 days. I would love snow for Christmas and Christmas Eve but then it can go. In 2002 the first year we lived her it was 82* Christmas day and being from Maine we were so uncomfortable and it seemed so strange to be wearing shorts and t shirts.

KarenSimon 11-13-2010 05:51 PM

You can have it. I am content in southern AZ. Beautiful today. Clear blue sky. Warm temperature.

Edie 11-13-2010 05:52 PM

Well, it is still snowing out - the city of St. Paul has declared a snow emergency starting tonight. We have gotten 9" today. It is heavy wet snow, breaking branches on a lot of trees. I went out and shoveled and had to do it bit by bit - too heavy! OK, that's it! I'm done. No more snow!

Just found out the kids are going to be here for Thanksgiving. Oh, that made my day!

If anyone likes New England Clam Chowder, let me know and I will write it out here. Perfect dinner tonight with lunch meat, cheese and Kaiser Rolls! Pumpkin Pie for dessert. My husband loved the soup. So simple - Crock Pot. I would be more than glad to share - you will not believe how easy it is!

Keep warm, girls!!!!!!! Edie

None where I live in New Hampshire yet, but it will be here soon enough. I like the cold, but if the snow and ice could just not fall on the roads!

Roads, sidewalks and alleys scare the bejabbers out of me. My husband fell last year and ended up having surgery and three pins and a plate put in his arm.

Can we have some pic's please, just to satisfy all we who never see snow! :D

Jingle 11-13-2010 06:45 PM

I love snow and cold weather, temps in about 75 everyday last week, very disgusting. Turned colder this morning and I like it better. I retired June 2nd and won't have to drive in the snow, unless it snows on my shopping day. I have a 4WD pick up and it drives very well on the snow.

Gramof6 11-13-2010 10:38 PM

I love to stay indoors and look out at a beautiful snowfall. LOL I do not mind my DH's driving, so we do go out to look at the snowfall in diff areas around us. If he is off out working, I do not drive in it if I do not have to.

Woodbury is a hop, skip and jump from where we live and for what it is worth - the snow is melting like crazy - it should be in the 40's by Tuesday., so plan on going to Woodbury for Thanksgiving. We had 9" of snow and by this AM it was down to 6.9' , and right now all the streets are clean as a whistle and the sidewalks are clean ('ceptin' thems that don't shovel). No problem. Edie

jojosnana 11-14-2010 01:16 PM

I hate snow except on Christmas Eve but when you live in Michigan and all your family is here..........you just get to hate about 5 months a year. Actually since I retired I don't hate it as much but I sure would like to live in the Caribean.

craftyone27 11-14-2010 01:21 PM

Should I not say it was sunny and about 60ish here today? Just about perfect weather IMHO - and my DH and DS spent a few hours out on the boat with our dog while I recuperate from the weekend. I do love snow and hope to see some even this far south before the winter is over!

katiebear1 11-14-2010 01:22 PM

I'm in Lexington KY and we hardly ever get snow. We moved here from Denver, Co and I MISS it! We may get 1 or 2 inches....just a dusting. Our winters are gloomy and rainy. In Denver we usually got 2 or 3 real blizzards a year and a lot of 6 to 10 inch snowfalls. But the snow never stuck around for long. in a day or two the weather would be sunny and warm and it would melt. I used to love to stand out on oour deck at night and watch the snow falling

irma's passion 11-14-2010 02:40 PM

AS I ALWAYS TELL MY FRIEND IN IOWA, DON'T SEND IT TO BOSTON, I DON'T WANT IT. ITS MUCH NICER THEIR.

joyceelaine1951 11-14-2010 05:29 PM

Oh yes, sometimes it even gets warm at the Pole. The Miser brothers have a huge battle over the Pole.

JuBee 11-15-2010 10:05 AM

It's been snowing all morning. Just stopped. I hate cold and snow and would be so happy to never see that white stuff again as long as I live. But husband likes it here and has a good job. So....
Be happy.
Judy

As a California girl, I have always wanted to live where it snows, those of you who do think I'm crazy, I know!
