My sister is in Houston and she said snow follow her everywhere. She moved from Indiana to Houston in March of 2008. enjoy!

nativetexan 12-04-2009 08:54 AM

Ha, ha. i moved from Houston in 1989 and remember it snowing in 1963 and then in 1976!!! enjoy!! you can have it. i've enough of my own in Colorado

Rose Hall 12-04-2009 08:56 AM

I heard this morning on the news (Lynchburg, VA) that it would be snowing in Houston today. If the weather guy can get it right for Houston--maybe he will get it right for us. We are supposed to get 1-3 inches.

LET IT SNOW!!!

lol, I just looked on the weather network and it says you guys are having light snow, but with a 'winter storm warning'.
How much accumulation would you need for it to be considered a snow storm in the south?
I went to a city in the south of France a couple of years ago, and their city gets totally paralyzed for a few inches of snow. Snow plows and things like that don't exist over there, so aparantly the whole city shuts down...

Rose Hall 12-04-2009 09:46 AM

The county schools shut down with the threat of snow, but the city schools (where I work) don't. The county roads are unpaved and mountainous. They can be very dangerous and everyone is so lawsuit happy these days I guess the school systems knows to CYA.
The businesses, etc. shut down with 6 in. or more. I am orginally from N. Indiana where we have "real" snow plows. I joke the ones here in Va are made from Tupperware! When the blade hits the road it doesn't even spark.

If is snowed here, it would be the end of the world!!! No one has plows, most have never seen a real snow shovel in their lives. The 5 billion cars on the road In Los Angeles would all collide into each other. A true disaster!!! LOL

Forget winter tires, too, I guess?

They're mandatory here, you HAVE to have winter tires on your car from december to april, and you HAVE to put summer/all seasons on your car the rest of the year, or they WILL give you tickets.

Ninnie 12-04-2009 01:31 PM

Great, you are getting snow in Huston, and none for us here in the boonies of NC LOL I so want some snow this year.

janRN 12-04-2009 03:26 PM

Please keep it there!! lol We haven't had any yet and I don't want any. I really need to move south.

amma 12-04-2009 03:51 PM

WooHoo!!! I LOVE to see snow in other places LOL
Enjoy playing outdoors with the kids and I look forward to the pictures :D :D :D

I always pray and wish that we won't get any snow til at least after Christmas. I could do without any snow or ice or 20 below weather but we live in Iowa and that is just plain crazy to expect to not have any of this winter stuff!!

The irony of it is that right now we have 25 to 30 degree weather and we are freezing. After it gets below 0 and stays there for a few weeks we will think 25 -30 is warm!!
Happens every year!

As of now it is all gone. It might snow more tonight and then it will be colder so I should be able to get more pics. Keeping my fingers crossed.

This was our front yard earlier today. A little more has fallen, the puppies have been enjoying it.

I like the snow in Texas better than Wisconsin.

Rhonda 12-04-2009 05:36 PM

Look at those rosy cold cheeks!! What cute kids! I don't envy you the snow tho!! But they look like they are having fun!

Luv2Kreate 12-04-2009 06:11 PM

Looks like your kids were having a great time...We didn't get as much snow in League City (it didn't stick anyway). The kids teachers let them go out and play in it (JR & HS) I thought that was funny. We just moved to the Houston area from Amarillo so really this was nothing compared to what we are used to, but I guess it is a rarity here :)

At least the wind doesn't blow 90 miles per hour here...makes the cold weather and snow A LOT more tolerable! I tried to take pics but they didn't take. It was interesting seeing it snow with the palm trees in the background....LOL

When I was living in Nashville, TN one evening they predicted snow for the next day. They called off school and the snow never showed up. Being from Massachusetts, I thought this was quite funny.

It's snowing here tonight. My boys [avatar] just love playing in it. The only problem is my Bichon gets all curly and it's hard to brush him out. Oh well!

Cutebuns, do you live on a tree farm?

LindaR 12-06-2009 09:00 AM

Shemjo 12-06-2009 09:49 AM

We actually had some flurries on Friday. I could do without it, but if it comes, I want fluffy, and then for it to melt right quick! Supposed to have more chances this Tuesday, and I am going on a bus trip that day. I want it to wait until we get home Tuesday nite!
