It's Snowing!

I live in North Central Washington about 20 min south of the Canadian border. We are finally getting snow! Kind of-the wind has been blowing steady for the past 6 days between 20 and 25 mph.Snow finally started to fall, sidways, this morning. Weather man started out saying we would get from 1-2 Feet from this storm, changed to 2-5 inches last night. the temp here at 1;45 is 5 degrees. I understand those on the west side of the Cascades are getting a lot of snow, I was told Tacoma, who seldom get's snow, has about a foot. Well the skiers will be happy. We don't usually get a lot of snow like some of you but we really need it, If we don't get enough it will be a very dry summer, We will be looking at Forest fires, and some well's may go dry. I would post a picture but for some reason no mater what I do I can't get them to post. I'm sure it's operator error. LOL I just wish the wind would quit!!

Enjoy the beauty. Hope you have lots of quilting supplies and get to stay in the warm house. I love to quilt and watch the snow.

Stay inside and keep warm! My part of Kansas hasn't seen any snow yet for this year and it is really rare. We need the moisture as well so we are truly praying for snow. :)

I used to enjoy sewing or crocheting when it was snowing all snuggled up in the house it was so nice however when you have to go out to work and shovel a ton of snow/ice and drive on the black ice it's so much nicer here in Fl. especially at this time of yr. I really don't miss the snow. It gets cold here for a few days which we love because it's so far in between. Enjoy watching the snow and stay inside safe and warm. Happy Quilting. Sue

We are suppose to get snow here on Friday. Glad I have the day off and I can stay home where it's warm.

donnalynett 01-18-2012 06:41 PM

We had quite the wind storm today.......about 5 miles from our house they measured a 113mph gust. Damage all over the county, including some of our roof! Donna, Coos Bay, Oregon

Grammie BJ -- That was my thought when it started to snow last Friday -- goodie -- But it has snowed every day since and now there is over 16 inches on the ground. No one here in Olympia WA plows or shovels -- only the interstate and a couple major roads. They expect it to melt I guess.

What a mess -- snow that deep and making slush and ruts -- they just close streets when no one can get up the hills.

Mim
They tease me that I brought the snow from Maine -- the fields at the cottage (in Maine) are clear and brown

Snow Bound

I live in NW Washington -- we have been snowbound since Monday. Our furnace died Monday afternoon, but fortunately were able to get a repairman out before it got dark. We have had about 14 inches of snow since then -- and it is still snowing (about 3 inches today). We have been advised that the snow may change to the ice storm that is hitting to the south -- that would be a real mess.

So far we have power -- hopefully that continues as it is 22 degrees.

I am going to try to attach a picture taken after our big dump Tuesday. Hope this works.

Where do you live in KY? I am in Lexington and the most we ever get is a couple of inches. Once in a while maybe 5 or 6. And at the hint of a flake they close the schools! We come from Denver CO and we would get a couple of feet (or more) at least twice a winter. The schools were never closed. I too love to watch the snow if we would only get some :)

katiebear1 01-19-2012 11:45 AM

QuiltnLady1, Beautifu pics. Is that a view from your house? If so Lucky You! I used to love being snow bound as long as the power stayed on LOL

We woke to 6 inches yesterday. It snowed most of the day then around middle afternoon it turned to rain. We are built for snow not rain. All the streets have flooded. It is also so very windy. I am at work and it sounds like the roof is coming off. This has been a crazy winter.

petlover 01-20-2012 07:57 AM

Wow, thanks for sharing. We used to get snow like that, but hardly get any now. Just cold.

krista 01-20-2012 08:32 AM

Oh Quiltin Lady 1 I feel for you! Your area is just not set up for this kind of snow fall! I heard today they are warning some areas on your side of the Mountains about floods! Hope they are wrong! For the past week we have had steady winds of 20-25 mph which really isn't that bad, except for the chill factor. this last week we had two days with a hi of 3 one day a hi of 5 two days were between 13 and 14 and then today we had 16 degrees and the wind quit!! WOO HOO a heat wave! LOL it started snowing hear about 12 hr's ago we have a whoppin 2 inches and the temp has dropped back to 14. If the wind starts up again we'll be drifted in. The snow here is really dry so any air movement will get it moving. I'm just happy DH has a good tractor to push the stuff out of 1/4 mile drive way!OK just hit the Post Quick Reply button and it said my post was too short It had to be 10 charters long!LOL I want to meet the person doing the counting
