this is retorical but have you tried taking the cover off the first thing the tread goes thru....I ran a piece of dentafloss thru that and the swing arm to see if it was catching somewhere.. it was...piece of thread inbedded in the arm...just a tiny piece but really chewed up and sticking. the 8900 is a very touchy b....ch LOL

I have switched to using only Organ brand needles in my Janome Horizon 8900. the Organ brand lines up better with the "automatic" needle threader AND my thread doesn't shred when i do free motion. (my free motion stinks out loud, so i need all the help i can get. LOL)

I can use either organ or schmetz in my brother.

I haven't really tested to see whether there is a difference between brands when i'm embroidering with my Janome MC 11000. since i have soooooo many schmetz brand needles for emroidery, and since i haven't had any problems using them in the 11000, and since i don't want to spend another pile of money collection organ brand for embroidery, i might never know. LOL

I quilt with a Pfaff Quilt Expression 4.2. I use a Superior 14/90 or 16/100 titanium top stitch needle for quilting, it gives me great results. I've been machine quilting since 1994, used a Bernina 1031 also.
