janome sewing machine Won’t turn on

I have owned this janome machine (JD1722) for 10+ years and never had any trouble. Haven’t used it in a while but brought it out a couple of weeks ago due to quarantine. Machine has worked perfectly until today when the machine fell on its side and now will just not turn on? Have checked socket and plug works.
Any advice?
Thanks

Hi Katie,

Welcome to the boards! It sounds like something broke in the machine if it doesn't turn on now. You will probably need a service repair for your machine when the shops re-open. Again welcome!

Welcome to the QB from SE Michigan! Sorry to hear that your machine fell on its side. :(.This sounds like it will need to be repaired in the shop. Sounds like an electrical problem. It is to bad we are in a quarantine that prevents repair shops to be open. Just so sorry.

Check and see if your shop takes curb side service, maybe you will luck out as it sounds like repair work.

Was it plugged in on the side of the machine when it fell? There is an outside chance that the fall had nothing to do with the electrical issue. It could be a bad plug/wire. Unplug it from the outlet or powerstrip then unplug it from the machine. Plug everyting back in, and try the power button, again.
If this doesn't work,....Try placing your machine on its side on a towel (so screws don't run away)...unscrew the base and see if you can determine if the plug is broken or wires are loose at the plug in area inside the machine. It could be an easy fix, otherwise, the cost of a repairman will be what the machine is worth. How far did it fall? If it fell hard, the power button could be damaged. Best wishes.

I would suggest that you see if you can turn the balance wheel and watch the needle move up and down. If ( heaven forbid) Tehre is major internal mechanical damage then whatever you do with electronics won't help. But that said, electricals are generally more fragile.

Is there a reset button on this machine?

Oh, and welcome to the board. I see you are new.

Welcome to this board. Sorry I don't have any experience with anything like that.
