Proofreading is a dying art, wouldn't you say?

Man Kills Self Before Shooting Wife and Daughter

This one I caught in the SGV Tribune the other day and called the Editorial Room and asked who wrote this. It took two or three readings before the editor realized that what he was reading was impossible!!! They put in a correction the next day.

I just couldn't help but sending this along. Too funny.

LMAO!!!!

One of my particular pet peeves with newspaper reporting in the internet age is the seeming inability in the byline or the story to mention WHERE THE HECK they are talking about!!!

My most recent example was last week, when there was a fire in Bridgeport, Ct, where two firefighters perished.

Someone posted a link on Facebook, and it took until the second to LAST paragraph before they mentioned that the mayor returned to Bridgeport. Not Bridgeport, CT, mind you. Up until that moment, I had no idea where I was reading about. The mast head of the newspapers are generally lacking that pertinent detail too....

These are wonderful. Hilarious! Thanks for posting. We have a weekly paper that is notorious for this sort of thing. They recently did an extensive article on a 'marshall arts' expert opening a business in the area. Good grief, Charlie Brown!
