Kinda sorta about sewing!
Has anyone ever made an old bathing into something else? Better question, have you used an old bathing suit for fabric to make anything? I have some old suits that are the prettiest florals but no longer have enough elasticity to wear in the water. I hated to throw them away so I was wondering about using the fabric for something else. But so far, can't think what! any help out there on this one? hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

use them in making doll clothes?
or use them as appliques on wall hangings but for me, I'd cut them into squares for dog quilts. I use just about anything that will stay together ... no lightweight fabrics. If their a polyester fabric, they will hold together just fine ... and if they don't, I just sew a patch over them. |
You could maybe make pin cushions out of them. Since they are stretchy, you could make the U shaped travel pillows with them.

I'm not sure they would last very long. the spandex tends to disintegrate. at least my old suits did. got almost crumbly.

I just saw a picture (Better Homes and Gardens July 2013 maybe) and the homeowners had framed kids swimsuits and hung them as pictures. Of course these were like a child's size 2!! But could you work them into some kind of art project? How about cup cozies or coasters?

Maybe make colorful undies for yourself?
I think when a stretch fabric has lost its stretch, the next destination is the waste basket. |
I think your best use would be as pin cushions or doggie beds.

How about hair scrunchies or colorful bracelets?

nothing worse than wearing one of those crumbly old lycra bathing suits only to find out that the elastic gives out as soon as it hits the water... sag... ask me how I know...
