Kitchen curtains/valance

I had the bright idea to make a valance for my kitchen windows - I've had the same ones since we bought the house (about 5yrs) - they look very easy to make - my problem is - what color? Why do I get so hung up on that? I was thinking muslin with a 2 or 21/2 inch strip of color sewed on the bottom and maybe rick rack on the edge. Has anybody else made curtains? and do you have any pics? I didn't get mine done but I am still contemplating...Woe is me...

I had some neat border material about 4 " wide that said Hog Wash and had pigs on it. I sewed it on to muslin and made bathroom curtain. Made a valance with it across the top and put the same border on the bottom of cafe curtains. (I don't need to cover my whole BR windows.)

What color is your kitchen?

I have made many sets of curtains and I always wait until I find the perfect fabric. What color is you kitchen and do you want print or solid?

I have made many curtains over the years. I have some blue and white gingham that I purchased sometime ago for kitchen curtains and have geen looking for the lace to match the fabric. I saw some the other day that I think would go well with the fabric. I need to get started soon as I am tired of the ones that are up there now. What color is your kitchen and what colors do you like?

I made Valance in kitchen afew months ago. I made it 17 inches, I also used strips of darker orange, and buttons
to attached it to and hang over curtain rod. People ask where did you get the curtains, I have seen them in the stores.
I like them.

Sherian - I love your curtains.
My kitchen is peach (I don't like it - just haven't painted yet) - we have been thinking about stripping the whole room out and starting over - so I haven't really spent much time decorating it -well 5 yrs later - I need to finally make curtains - I was thinking yellow or red or roosters - I am hoping that if I re do the curtains we will have to paint to match them. Oh, what a great idea....

I had the carpenter trim out my kitchen window with a space behind the molding for me to nest in a tension rod, so the woodwork becomes the header for my balloon valance.
