I knitted some finger free mittens and hat for our grandson's christmas present to go with a really neat sled that I hope he doesn't kill himself slidding down the hills.

LOL You have an idea. I am afraid that his mother is going to shoot daggers at me when he opens the package, she is very protective.

What else are grandma's for??!! Kids need opportunity to go beyond the limits that parents set (in safe ways...), so I say you did good!

Fantastic gift idea...I love fingerless gloves, I have many pairs...can't get through winter without them (and it doesn't even snow here!).

Living in South Texas, we don't need mittens down here. So that's probably why I don't understand the fingerless mittens thing. Isn't it the fingers that get cold first? Sorry to sound clueless, just wondering.
