We have cell phones only. One nice thing is that I only have one number to give out to people. I think it makes a person easier to reach in that way. One phone number for home, work, and play. (Of course being easier to reach can also be a negative. But if I don't want to talk to that person at that moment, I just don't answer.)
The negative is that now there's people I don't talk to as often. For example, if my husband's sister calls, she will call his cell phone, which he of course will answer. With a land line, either one of us would answer, and you get to know your spouse's friends, coworkers, etc. better. |
We call Europe a lot (2-5 X weekly) so a land line is a must. The $$ they want for European calls on Verizon are just not worth it. We have a separate cell phone that we use when we go to Europe - the pay-as-you-go kind and just top it up at the grocery store when we arrive (which is usually one of our first pit stops anyway).
My "land line" though is Vonage and we get Europe, Canada, Mexico, and a handful of Caribe nations for a flat fee. |
I still have land line computer connection, so I will keep mine.

Gave ours up when DH was layed off and the only thing I really miss the phone number. We had the same number for about 20 years.

I would if my mother-in-law wasn't living with us. All my DH and I use are our cells.

We have both (sigh). In order to get internet we either have to go with a cable company (and pay through the nose) or we have to use the phone company. The cost is only a few dollars more a month for the landline +internet than cable internet.

I have both. Needed the 911 for home. I use my cell when I'm shopping. You can't even find a pay phone anywhere around here. Need to be able to call a cab. When I'm traveling by Greyhound, I like to be able to call someone and let them know I arrived safely.

I gave up the landline 3-4 yrs ago. My girls call me GYPSY cause I'm never home. And the last teen still at home Texts nonstop. we have roadrunner for internet and I'm dropping that too. My puter died so I sneak in and use hers when she is out. well, maybe I'll get more sewing and quilting done!

Nope...Keeping landline..Have a cell that's abt 10 yrs old, never turn it on...do the prepaid thing only use for emergencies on the RD.
Never talk on the phone even with the landline... |
I do not get much cell reception out in the sticks where I live. Finally got land line at my home a year after I moved in. Was a fight since they had to run lines just for me and it is the bare basic phone, no cable or Internet available. I did not like living with no phone at all. My kids all are cell only and I would do that if I had cell signal.
