When my kids were young, they used to pretend they didn't know that I was their mother when I brought things to events in laundry baskets.

It does my heart SOOO much good when I see THEM bringing things to events in laundry baskets. With their names on them!

I have those " OMG I sound like my mom" moments myself. I do notice when the kids do things like I did while they grew up. So funny. Now the GKs are following. Just love passing things on.

dharen7 10-13-2010 02:28 PM

Mine thing I was never going to do was spit on a kleenex and wipe their face. Now I see my daughters do it

It's all in the family, right?

cjomomma 10-13-2010 04:11 PM

There are lots of things I don't do that my parents did and there are those things I do that are the same. We live and we learn!!

tdgiffin 10-13-2010 04:14 PM

I knew I was my "mom" the first time I said, "If you do NOT settle down, I am going to pull this car OVER!" lol

Ditter43 10-13-2010 04:57 PM

Parents are role models, too bad some assume such bad roles!! :(
The lucky kids are the ones who complain about things as mundane as clothes baskets!! :D

Ramona Byrd 10-13-2010 06:28 PM

After teen years of swearing they would raise THEIR kids different,
both my daughters said that when they opened their mouths to their kids, they heard MY voice come out, saying the very same thing I'd said to them.

I just smile and think "Gotcha!!!"

IrishNY 10-13-2010 06:51 PM

Next time they arrive with a laundry basket, you should pretend not to know THEM! :D :D

I bought my daughter an appropriate sign - "Just when my daughter realized her mother was right she has a daughter who thinks she is wrong."

sueisallaboutquilts 10-14-2010 05:18 AM

My poor Mom never got her wish fulfilled :

"When you grow up I hope you have a daughter just like you" !!!
I have 3 sons lol :D

dkabasketlady 10-14-2010 08:31 AM

My DD always made fun of my LISTS, but guess who carries a notebook with her all the time to check!!!!! I keep telling my children that what they see is their destiny so don't fight it,lol!!!

Irishlady 10-14-2010 01:11 PM

The thing which frightens me the most right now is, not only do I sound like my mam, I am starting to look like her!

Betty J 10-14-2010 02:34 PM

I can't get the grin off my face!!!!!

I'm really trying - but it won't go away.

Will probably think of this every time I look at the laundry basket. Thanks for the smile.

Alondra 10-14-2010 05:22 PM

It's a holy wonder we survived being so stupid, isn't it! Oh, the stupid things we did! My older daughter is just now getting into her "stupid" phase, and I keep telling her she deserves it, but that this too shall pass. <G>

IrishNY 10-14-2010 05:36 PM

I saw a sign recently that said

"Attention teenagers! Escape your unreasonable parents and get out on your own now while you still know everything."

VernaL 10-14-2010 07:30 PM

Now my grandkids come over and crawl around with my round laundry baskets on their backs and pretend they are turtles!!
They really are handy for lots of things!

Since we parents are so stupid, in the eyes of those teen agers, how do we become so smart just a few years later? It is amazing how much their ideas change in such a short time.

RugosaB 10-14-2010 08:09 PM

My son, who's now a sailor on the USS Ronald Reagan, started life in a laundry basket. He was an oops, born 13 mos after his sister, and rather than ask for the crib back from the person we gave it to because we thought we were done having kids, we just carried him around in a basket

annette1952 10-16-2010 10:36 PM

My dear friend once said that he never knew he was so stupid until he had kids! LOL We used to laugh about that all the time. Kids are so funny. Don't know what I ever would of done without having my kids in my life.
