http://www.fs.fed.us/wildflowers/bea...dromedea.shtml Says that they are listed as a threatened in Michigan, as well as endangered in New York, Vermont and Wisconsin. http://botany.org/Parasitic_Plants/P...andromedea.php Apparently they are edible and have medicinal value. (DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT.....RESEARCH, RESEARCH AND MORE RESEARCH). A list of poisonous plants to pets: http://www.humanesociety.org/assets/...ous_plants.pdf |
Ew, ew, ew. I share your judgment of them as ugly. Like orange asparagus on steroids
I have never seen anything like that here in NE Texas and we have plenty of pine trees
Thanks for sharing! I've never seen anything like that before, but I do think they are pretty!!
I like their form. I like plants / fungi / etc. that look like Dr. Seuss drawings.
I think they're beautiful too: easy for me to say, since I don't have them popping up everywhere |

We have pine trees planted in an L shape as wind breaks around the property here in Iowa.....I've never seen anything like these and would have thought they were floral also. Thanks for letting us know!
Ugh! I would pull them up too! Ugly things to me.
Wow! Those look like something out of a Science -fiction movie. Never seen anything quite like that. Good to know that they are not harmful to your pine trees, anyhow.
Have had pines of various kinds on properties here in Illinois...first time seeing these! Interesting...wonder what their purpose is.....they are interesting looking...
